WASHINGTON, Sept. 1 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Christian Coalition of America strongly agrees with Senator Elizabeth Dole, (R-NC), when she said in her speech at the Republican National Convention that the Constitution guarantees freedom of religion, not freedom from religion." Senator Dole went on to say, "The right to worship God isn't something Republicans invented, but it is something Republicans will defend." Dole cited John 10:10 as she said, "Two thousand years ago, a man said, 'I have come to give life and to give it in full.' In America, I have the freedom to call that man Lord, and I do."

The President of Christian Coalition of America, Roberta Combs said, "I am very pleased that during these critical times America is going through, President George W. Bush, as he has done throughout his first term, has emphasized faith throughout his convention this week. As President Bush said last year, 'Events aren't moved by blind change and chance. Behind all of life and all of history, there's a dedication and purpose, set by the hand of a just and faithful God'."

Christian Coalition has a strong presence at the Republican convention in New York City this week and numerous media interviews are being done. Christian Coalition has many national delegates represented at the convention including a number of Christian Coalition State Chairmen. Many activists are also on the Platform, Rules and Arrangements Committees and many attended Tuesday's "Faith, Family and Freedom Rally". Over the years Christian Coalition has trained hundreds of thousands of activists, in both parties, who are active in the political process.

The Christian Coalition of America is America's largest Christian grassroots organization with more than 2 million supporters. The organizations website may be referenced at: http://www.cc.org.

2. These morons should read the actual document.
It doesn't guarantee freedom OF religion. It says, and I quote:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion"

Meaning that the government shall not favor one religion over another. The easiest way to do that is to have SECULAR institutions. These bible thumpers are not oppressed. nobody's closing their churches and throwing them in jail. I wish they would just STFU. They can worship any way they choose, but not in a public school or inside a courthouse. Is it that hard to understand?

14. I usually say
"I hope there's a hell, because it won't be people like me going there. It will be people like Bush."

4. Yadda, Yadda, Yadda
Yeah she has freedom of religion and I have the freedom not to have her religion forced on my kids. Period. I sure didn't have kids to rais them to be intolerant of anyone elses rights. If old Lizzie thinks her rights are being trampled then(to use the standard neo-con line) let her move somewhere else...

9. I think I'd go retro-pagan, where there is a goddess of love
to counter the god of war.

12. Pagan is good
Wiccans and pagans of all sorts have the best parties.

The worship doesn't seem to bad either.

Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference.

-------------------

In all seriousness - there is a lot to admire about earth centered religions. I just don't feel especially called to participate in any religion.

What are these people going to do - forcibly baptize us under pain of death as their spiritual forbears did to native peoples around the globe?

16. They are going to try.
I accidentally found a website looking for something else that's all about end-times. There are so many quotes on the site from Prezidunce Bush that it seems they are going to really try. I wish I had bookmarked the website now, but since it wasn't what I was looking for I moved on.

6. Elizabeth Dole
makes me wretch. At least Jesse Helms didn't cover up his mean-spiritedness. Phony sweetness is the worst.
I'm so sick of these people constantly marketing and pushing their "Christian-ness" on everyone. Christians aren't the only good people out there, in fact there are a lot of so-called Christians who I think qualify as "evildoers".

10. The Founding Fathers' Challenge vs. our Modern Challenge
The Founding Fathers strived to keep government from telling religion what to do.

Our modern challenge is to keep religion from telling government what to do.

11. This has been posted here before
http://www.stephenjaygould.org/ctrl/treaty_tripoli.html

<snip>

Art. 11. As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquillity, of Mussulmen; and, as the said States never entered into any war, or act of hostility against any Mahometan nation, it is declared by the parties, that no pretext arising from religious opinions, shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.

<snip>

Too bad the E. Doles of the world get away with what they speak though it be fraught with false reference.

The Constitution says there shall be no religious test for office!
