1. Can it be done?
I've always wondered if we could eject someone from the party.

10. are you sure?
I don't think someone can run as a representative to a party if the party objects.

If nothing else, the party can run their own "official" candidate, makine Zell a disenfranchised third party.

9. Thankfully, I decided months ago to boycott the RNC.
I've gotten pissed off enough just reading about it on DU, and hearing about it the next day on DEMOCRACY NOW! and FREE SPEECH RADIO NEWS.

18. Same here!
The only TV news I have watched is CSpan's Washington Journal and then the clips they play on AAR. And here, of course.. I have no need to listen to these people - anyone who supports shrub for a second term is either stupid, nuts, or dishonest.

14. Could the State Democratic Party refuse to endorse him
Edited on Wed Sep-01-04 09:54 PM by kenzee13
if he seeks their ballot line next time he's due for election? It is my understanding that that in NY a candidate must obtain the Party endorsement to win the line. Except that with enough support from party registrants, a candidate can "hijack" the line without the Party endorsement, so the Dems would have to have a strong and supported candidate to secure the line. Again, I am basing this on my (fairly sketchy - so any corrections or clarifications welcome) understanding of the system in NY. It could be different in his state.

And if he's popular with voters, would the Party be willing to dump him, however repellent and un-"Democratic" his views?

on edit: I just read two other threads on Zell and one poster says he's leaving anyway (I don't know if retiring or changing party - I usually don't read anything about him) so if that is the case it is all moot, anyway.

15. and Kerry tomorrow can demonstrate....
....his leadership skills by wiping that piece of shit Zell, off the ass of the Democratic party....

Kerry and 'pretty-boy' had better take off the 'white-gloves' and start throwing some 'big rocks' and these repubs or we're going to get four more years of chimp,inc....

The ONLY reason I'm backing Kerry is because the corporate party elders decreed him a 'shoe-in' and their boy.....but if it looks like we're going to lose, I would much rather go down swinging with a Dean than somebody who puts me to sleep during a pep-rally....

It's like the corporate-handlers only allow us to fight so hard....if something 'said' questions this corrupt and decaying system, it's fascist benefactors pull on the reins of our candidates....

17. I'd Rather Zell Had Never Served
than to claim to be a Democrat then turn on the party. No matter what walk of life, from the mob to the military, a traitor is lowest of the low. F' Miller.

19. God BLESS Zell Miller!
The guy did in twenty minutes what Kerry has had trouble doing for months. He showed us what the Republican psyche really looks and sounds like when it's let out of its cage.

I predict segments from Miller's speech and segments from his appearances afterward will be played over and over. It won't quite be a Dean Scream moment, but it will get some mileage and that mileage will be to our advantage.
