Good for MSNBC (covering the anti-gay protest outside MSG)
MSNBC just showed an excellent piece about this week's protests in New York City. They showed footage I have not seen yet, and stressed that for the most part, the protests have been extremely peaceful.

After the report, MSNBC went to Tom Costello, NBC News reporter, reporting in front of Madison Square Garden. He was there to stress that not all of the protestors are against the President. He then asked his cameraman not to zoom in on the two dozen or so protestors behind him.

"The signs behind me are very offensive, and there is no need to show them. The people behind me are protesting against gays. The signs are saying that all gays should die... of course, they're not using the word "gay." I guess you'll just have to use your imagination, because we're not going to zoom in."

Good for MSNBC.

5. Fred Phelps came to my town to protest a play about Matthew Shepard.
He didn't go through with it, because the counter-demonstrators outnumbered his Bigot Brigade.

Part of me feels really good when I see these people, because we must be doing something right for them to feel so threatened, but another part of me feels really sad because they reproduce.

8. I hear that
They came here, too. Protested my neighborhood Lutheran church, called it a "fag church".

Ridiculous, at 8 AM on Sunday, there were just a few elderly people there.

6. Zoom In!!!!
Who cares what it says!? It's news!

Plus it gives everyone a great example of what Bush's base is like. I hope he stressed, during his comments, that these weren't the anti-bush protestors that are out there.

7. The whole point of his report was that those people are PRO-BUSH.
That's what I thought was so remarkable about his reporting. He made it clear that not all the protestors are anti-Bush, and that in fact, the ones behind him were apparently in support of the President.

Maybe he should have zoomed in... but believe me, he made his personal disgust known.

9. Does this mean we can start watching MSGOP now?
I do not watch television news shows, because if I wanted the kind of information they flood the airwaves with, I would turn my radio to AM talk radio. But it would be nice to watch news without getting physically ill from lies or like I am a traitor.
