Alec Baldwin comments on Stephen Baldwin
snip.........

"Stephen's been fairly apolitical for a long, long time. Then he embraced a born-again Christian faith, which is very near and dear to him and very real for him. As a result of that, of course, certain operatives of the Republican Party came to him and said, `Why don't you come on over and join our unit of spokespeople who are show business?'"

Alec, who starred in the 2003 film "The Cooler," said he told Stephen: "When they are done with you, they are going to throw you in the wastebasket" and cautioned him about carefully choosing his words "when ... they stick a microphone in your face."

Will Stephen listen? Alec doesn't expect it.

"Of course, he's going to ignore my advice as he's done throughout his life," the elder Baldwin brother said.

1. Hitler dropped the Christians after he no longer needed them.

2. I saw him on O'Wrongly
he was pretty fair about Alec, and this was before I knew he was a bacterrorist, (born-again-christian-terrorist), so I thought he was suspiciously neutral. Now I know.

10. What's your point?
Edited on Thu Sep-02-04 10:23 AM by DenverDem
I support people who use violence against posters who think they have funny screen names that folks back at fascist repudlick will giggle about.

Too bad you don't understand the irony of the movie you reference.

11. The point is to question every criticism of Bush*
In another thread, this poster claims Bush* did NOT say the WOT is "unwinnable"

In another thread about how a protester was arrested for yelling at Cheny, this poster claims that Gore did the same thing.

15. I don't debate the unpersuadable
and anyone who thinks Bush* did NOT say the war on terror is "unwinnable" is not going to listen to reason.

19. If he supports anti-abortion terrorists
The kind who shoot doctors and firebomb clinics, and apparently now bomb stem cell research facilities, then that would make him a supporter of terrorism and violence.

4. "Unit" is the operative word.
"Join our unit, Steve! We got Kelsey Grammer, Vinnie Gallo, and, uh, Drew Carey. Yah. OH! And remember Kennedy, the old MTV VJ from the early 90's? She's in our UNIT, too!"

What an awesome fighting force that unit must be.

12. Supposedly Kennedy has moderated her stance these days.
I'll try to find the link.

5. Sounds like good advice to me
Republicans never cared about Stephen before and they're not going to keep caring once the convention is over.

8. Sounds like he is trying
to help a brother he knows will be used.

Does anyone know the age order of the Baldwin brothers?

I'm glad he's not wholesale attacking his bro--just sounds like good advice.

17. He did a good job of painting as something of the victim he is
Victim twice over -- getting involved with the so-called "Christians" and then getting dazzled by the Repug machine.

16. demeaning in a way
He should have just kept his comments to "he's my brother and he has his views which he holds near to his heart. We don't agree on these issues and that's okay"

He wasn't bad, but that line about "ignore my advice as he's done throughout his life" is kind of demeaning and not something I would want my brother to say about me in public.

18. I think Stephen has a game plan - televangelist.
His career is for shit, going nowhere. So he says to himself, how can a man with no talent make some big money in the show biz? The obvious answer is "televangelist."

He was on Howard Stern a few months ago and in a careless moment made a comment that Howard pounced on- indicating that he (Stephen) hoped to get a TV show and start preaching on the air.

Whats very strange is I think he got the idea from Alec. Can it be a coincidence, that Stephen Baldwin decides to make a career change to televangalist, when his brother Alec has played Jimmy Swaggart in a movie?

22. As a total aside, Alec Baldwin in "The Cooler"
is one of the best acting jobs I've ever seen. He nails the role of an ambiguous sociopath in a performance that's so smooth, so unaffected, that you almost miss how good it is.
