The Diebold GEMS central tabulator contains a stunning security hole
Submitted by Bev Harris
Thu, 08/26/2004

Issue: Manipulation technique found in the Diebold central tabulator -- 1,000 of these systems are in place, and they count up to two million votes at a time.

This post is based on Bev's article, and nobody is actually disagreeing with her point, even though they know she posts here...la

6. It's the "back door" to the Diebold machines.
They think Democrats will use it to steal the election! Maybe this is the one issue where we could work together(?!)

2. you would have to be crazy to think BBV is a good idea
Without a paper trail, every election result will be suspect regardless of what party wins.

4. Good!
I always said, we need to make the Republicans think WE'RE going to steal the election with these machines. Then we'll see everyone rushing to fix them.

5. bwahahaha
To: Joe Brower; ForGod'sSake; bert
"By entering a 2-digit code in a hidden location, a second set of votes is created. This set of votes can be changed, so that it no longer matches the correct votes. The voting system will then read the totals from the bogus vote set. It takes only seconds to change the votes, and to date not a single location in the U.S. has implemented security measures to fully mitigate the risks."
Is that so.

Well, guess it's time then to pull the plug, huh.

...might explain the "close" election of 2000, too.

that's right freeper - we're gonna steaL back the whitehouse, senate and house thanks to these machines. howard dean is gonna do it.

To: Bellflower
"Dems have been cheating at a level that is beyond anything we may think"
I heard the other day, that they found 30,000 dems registered in Florida, who were also registered in New York.(sheesh- 30,000 is a lot of votes. )

I hate electronic voting. Now it looks like I'm right to be leery of it. I think president Bush has a chance to win my state (California or "Caulifor-ni-a" as Ahnold says).- But not if with this type of voting and potential for fraud. There is nothing wrong with paper ballots. If you're too stupid to figure out how to use them, you're too stupid to vote.

I hope the Republicans are aware of this for their own sake.

Edited on Thu Sep-02-04 02:03 PM by kayell
"I sent this to a good friend of mine, the District Director of my local Congresscritter AND to another friend of mine....Jeb Bush."

On the other hand, I'm damn glad they are getting upset about it too. Vote stealing is not ok, no matter who they think might be the guilty party. My worry is that they will all roll over like good puppies if their good friend Jeb or George tell them that BBV is a good thing.

19. It should be noted that Jim March is a Freeper ....
A libertarian, and a FIERCELY independent libertarian at that ...

And: he can be quite an asshole at times ...

THAT being said: He has also been working WITH BBV and has been quite effective in bringing this issue to the fore in the 'asshole' community ....

Many here are mad at Bev for the Jim March thing, and certainly about her filing that lawsuit .... but oh well: I still love Bev and applaud her hard work ....

Jim March himself had a brilliant demonstration a week/two weeks ago where he described how Galileo peeked through the telescope, and saw new worlds: but when he asked others to see those worlds : they wouldnt look .... Now: (he says) Here were bring evidence of a whole world of fraud and deception, the ability to peek underneath the facade of Black Box Voting, and see the world of deception underneath that facade: ... Will you look ? .. (he asks) ...

I knw Jim March is an asshole, and I despise his politics, by all means .... but He has been instrumental in bringing a rightist credibility to the BBV issue ... and that is a good thing ....
