asisne question, but it's not mine. cnbc (the dennis miller channel) actually has that up as their poll

it's been freeped 70-30 for zell, probably due to the fact that drudge linked to it

1. What's up with the online polls today

Every one that I've visited has been heavily freeped AND is already
closed (so all you see is results). Am I being paranoid? (Yeah,
I know, I am paranoid... but that doesn't mean that there AREN'T
people out to get me!!!)

2. What kind of duel?
Pistols? Cutlasses? Tire iron fight in the MSNBC parking lot? Matthews gets to choose, since he is the challengee.

3. Former marine versus
short, chubby, soft guy....you do the math.

Now in a dual of WITS....Matthews by a mile.

6. Just Because
Zelly is former marine doesn't mean he'll win, and Matthews isn't that short, and a chubby face does not mean a soft body.

And it's duel not dual.:)

8. Thanks for pointing out my spelling error! :-)
Matthews DOES have a soft body; he'd be toast

4. Depends
First of all as the challenged party Matthews would have the choice of weapons. In the time before gunpowder the only way to settle a duel was with a sword, then came guns. And it was done with a single shot pistol, loaded by the seconds.

Now Zelly was a marine, but his eyesight probably isn't as good as it once was, and using a percussion cap or black powder pistol isn't the same as using an M-1 rifle. You get one shot and if you miss, you're opponent gets to fire, and you have to stand there and be a target.

If you should move in any way, you were considered a coward, personally I don't think Zelly would stand still and let Matthews take a shot at him.

The question is basically crap, especially when you have some totally mindless fuck who is most likely not familiar with the rules that went with dueling.

I think in a duel with pistols Matthews would win, he has better eyesight, a steadier hand, and Zelly would fire as soon as he could because he's a hothead. And in firing as soon as he turned he would miss, because a black powder pistol isn't the most accurate weapon in the world.

5. Matthews was a Capital Hill Policeman
Might be better with a pistol.
