Hot Damn!! Is this the same John Kerry?!
From the New York Times:

"For the past week, they attacked my patriotism and my fitness to serve as commander in chief," Mr. Kerry said in remarks issued Thursday night as Mr. Bush was about to accept the Republican nomination for a second term.

"Well, here's my answer," Mr. Kerry said. "I'm not going to have my commitment to defend this country questioned by those who refused to serve when they could have and by those who have misled the nation into Iraq."

17. take it one step further...
They have a 527 to question Kerry's military service, there should be a 527 to question the bush cowards so called Christianity. He only became an Evangelic AFTER he lost his first election to an Evangelic and anyone that is a true Christian would have to ask themselves if the things he does are Christian in nature or is he just hiding behind this. The true Christians are aware that Christ warned them of people like bush, they just need to realize what he is. Naturally Kerry could condemn such ads by a rogue 527, but if done properly the bush coward could be forced to to answer some questions about his so called faith in Christ. It is fair game because bush uses it all the time, yet no one is brave enough to challenge him, afraid the Christians will turn on them, when just the opposite can happen, the Christians will turn on bush if they realize he is a liar hiding behind GOD.

5. Going after Cheney
Said 5 deferments makes him unfit for duty, against his 2 tours of duty in Vietnam.

22. Yep,must read quote from the E-Mail.....
"The vice president even called me unfit for office last night. I guess I'll leave it up to the voters whether five deferments makes someone more qualified to defend this nation than two tours of duty."

Bawhahah,you tell him John!!

Exactly what I've been thinking........ DK might be a bit on the short side, but his spine is strong and lends itself to supporting others, too. :hi:

12. I'm sure that's why DK didn't do so good....
short is always a problem. I just today put my Kerry/Edward sign over my Dennis Kucinich one. It makes me very sad. I loved the idea of a Department of Peace.

13. Then your short-sightedness is the problem.
I will no longer argue with people who look for superficial reasons to be against someone, and to bash them.

If that's where you are, then I'm done.

That's isn't what THEY thought of Dennis, but might explain what SOME folks think. They were (are) a Kucinich supporter.

27. DK thought so too!
And it wasn't negative, either, IMO. Just plain truth-telling refusal to take crap.

http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2004/09/03/kerry/index.html

And for once, the Kerry campaign played it perfectly. The campaign distributed excerpts from the speech Thursday evening, just as the final session of the Republican Convention was about to begin. In an instant, the TV pundits' agenda for the night was changed. Happy talk about Bush's acceptance speech disappeared, trumped by Kerry's defense of himself and his attack on Bush's dishonest rush to war. "He's on the right path now," Ohio Rep. Dennis Kucinich told Salon just after Kerry finished speaking. Kucinich seemed thrilled with Kerry's new approach. "What you saw here was the beginning of his victory. Mark the date."

But for undecided voters who aren't paying attention to staff changes and ad strategies, Thursday night's televised rally in Ohio was a clear and visible sign of Kerry's rising. When the Democrats had their convention, Bush waited until the morning after to resume his campaign. Kerry waited just a few minutes. His plane landed in Dayton, Ohio, while Bush was still speaking at Madison Square Garden, and his motorcade pulled into Springfield just after the convention ended.

Edited on Fri Sep-03-04 12:52 AM by Cat Atomic
I can hear it now... 'don't you think all this negativity from John Kerry will turn off the voters?'

Whatever- it's about time they started swinging. The Bush team is ripe for picking.

15. Now that's what I am talking about.
This is how you get tough. This is how you respond. If I were John, I would stay off the windsurfer and campaign like his life and his country depended on it for the next few months. I must be on a 24/7 basis.

So the race finally starts.

John

19. I agree. It's one thing to say, "I ain't gonna take it anymore"
It's quite another to actually do anything about it.

How is he going to get the bushies and their pet swift boat liars to stop lying about his service record?

The press doesn't seem that interested in bush's desertion or Cheney's multiple deferments, they've come up before and nothing happened. So what's he going to do?

Political speech is highly protected, even if it's pure malicious bullshit. A slander suit is out of the question.

That leaves buying ad time. So, should he trust that a 527 could pick up the slack? MoveOn can't even get their ads on CNN. Should his campaign use some of his $75 million allowance to run debunking counterpropaganda and attacks on B/C service record? Maybe, but he's got a lot of advertising to do on that money between now and November.

20. The press is not interested in Bush's desertion or Cheney's deferrments
because many in the press exercised the same options back in the 60s and early 70s.
