Are you surrounded by freepers & afraid to speak your mind?
well, today is 'confront a freeper' day. if you work at an office or shop that's full of freepers, don't be afraid to speak your mind right back at them, cause they are fearless.

sometimes it's hard, because maybe your job is on the line or you fear reprisals from right wing assholes. perhaps there are freepers who are your real friends and you don't want to lose them. still, you should speak freely without fear of consequence.

stand up to freepers be they in your workplace or family or restaurant, and practice the free speech rights so many fought and died for. be bold, be assertive, stand your ground and let the chips fall. think of a way, do it today.

1. Hell NO!
I'm surounded by Freepers and neo-Cons and I put up signs that say things like

George Bush is a physical, emotional and moral coward."

When told I really shouldn't say things like that I reply "why wouldn't I want to speak the truth?" and give them a really confused look.

3. Some ammunition for the faint hearted
I'm not afraid to speak to freepers, and this is what I say:

I was appalled when those people at the convention made fun of our veterans, especially those who got Purple Hearts. Do you realize that none of the Republican leadership has ever been under enemy fire? That they have no idea what it is like? You know, they show their contempt of veterans in other ways-look at how our local Guard unit had to raise local funds to buy body armor! And check out the DAV site-they'll tell you how the Republicans cut funding for disabled vets! And what about the fact that military family aid has been cut by Bush? That wounded soldiers have to pay for their hospital meals? That Guardsmen and Reservists only have 30 days worth of medical coverage once they come home? Know that there are soldiers who have lost their homes and cars because of continued call-ups?

I've found that once I get started, I just keep going. And any freeper nearby sort of shrinks and then slinks away.....

12. And last year, when soldiers
were coming home on leave from Iraq and Afghanistan, they were being dumped on the East Coast and told to pay for their own ticket the rest of the way home, which could be pretty expensive on short notice. It took a DEMOCRATIC congressman (Dennis Moore of Kansas) to introduce a bill requiring the State Department to get them all they way to their home towns.

No, I'm surrounded by liberal Democrats who despise bush* and his policies and his gang of thugs. We have one or two republicans who are keeping to themselves. They are not bad at all, but they know they are out-numbered.

11. repubs are VERY confrontational
my own brother for example, just can't leave the preaching and bush worshipping to himself. always at the most uncomfortable times, during dinner in a restaurant, or a family reunion, he confronts people. i hate this, and i don't like to confront people, it makes my heart pound and i turn red and lose my cool. but sometimes my bro just pulls my trigger and i have to put him in his place, then, everything is fine again. i just hate going through the process.

15. Everyday is Confront a Freeper Day for me
Unfortunately I only run into them sporadically but count my lucky stars when I do. I'm not sure what I enjoy doing more: bait, mock, threaten, or simply laugh hysterically whenever they try to make a point. The way I look at it is even a baboon will run away from you if it is unsure, embarrassed, or downright terrified.

18. I'm tired of listen to freeper spew
Glad you started the thread, Mopaul.

I visited my mother, who's in a rehab facility after a month in the hospital with pneumonia. She was beginning the physical therapy session, and the physical therapist was whining the standard RW wing spew of the evils of socialized medicine and how the illegal non-tax paying immigrants get better care, etc. She appeared to be in her mid-20's, so she probably grew up listening to the praises of St. Ron of Reagan.

After fighting traffic and being angry at my 2 slacker brothers, that was the wrong time for a freeper to appear. Time to draw the Hammer of Truth...

Freeper: Socialized medicine is a bad thing, look at Canada. Hillary would've had us in a mess like them.

Me: We have 44M who'd like some sort of coverage.

Freeper: But they have to wait for weeks for surgery.

Me: How's that different from here? We have insurance companies that put limits on what and how much they'll cover.

Freeper: Canadians are coming here for medical procedures.

Me: The ones who can AFFORD it are coming here, like the people here WHO CAN AFFORD IT get whatever they want.

Freeper: Socialized medicine is bad, lots of journals say so.

Me: Can you tell me where you read that socialized medicine is so bad?

Freeper: I don't remember, my husband read that.

(I knew she'd say that)

Freeper: What we need is coverage like the politicians.

Me: Or have the politicians family members have to deal with insurance like the rest of us. Maybe they'll get motivated in fixing this problem.

Freeper: They need to cut the waste. Get those cheats.

Me: Absolutely, and we need to put the corporate criminals, like Ken Lay, in jail for destroying whole markets, and pensions, and putting thousands out of work. He stole more money than hundreds, if not thousands, of immigrants combined.

Physical therapy work begins.

Damned lazy ignorant freepers and my slacker brothers make me want to :puke:

I don't often get to vent like this. Thanks!

Actually, Freepers are NOT fearless. They just count on being the only ones willing to yell and argue. If you show the same willingness AND have logic on your side to boot, they quickly back down, like the gutless, pissy-pantsed cowards that they are. (It also doesn't hurt that I'm built like an NFL linebacker. )

24. Way ahead of you!
I didn't realize today was "confront a freeper" day but I already sent out a terse e-mail to my freeper father who sent one yesterday gushing about the RNC and what a big, happy family they are.

I am not surrounded because I live in a very liberal area but I have some evil infesting my family in the form of aforesaid father as well as one daughter and a sister who calls occasionally. They all feel free to belittle my opinions and go on and on and on about Shrubco but I find their arguments rarely have any substance. They're mainly the same sound bites, talking points and lies that the "liberal" media tosses out. Easy to counter with facts.

Yes surrounded, no not afraid.

I've been cautioned about it at work, but everywhere else I wear anti-Bush/pro-Kerry gear, and get in people's faces. Writing about widgets can get tiresome anyway. I figure if anything DOES happen, it's God's way of telling me I need to look for a brighter horizon, where I can help people in a job-- perhaps non-profits or somesuch. I'm not that worried.

The glares I get in our 85% Repug town are priceless. And at work I've decorated my office with various doo-dads that show exactly where my sympathies lie.

28. TALK to a freeper day
Personally I have found that "confrontation" and screaming does nothing to increase understanding. I am surrounded by freepers in a very conservative company. Once I pointed out that I disliked *'s policies and not him personally I had a more receptive audience to discuss the issues more openly without freep talking points dominating our chats. There are those that are beyond hope, but they are the ones that look like closed-minded fools.

Worked for me, but may not work for all.

32. Local freepers no longer speak to me because they are afraid of having a
heart attack.

Mo, I agree with you. Freepers are generally loud, hostile, and ruthless. Fortunately, they are all bluster and no substance. Standing up to their stupid talking points with facts, calm, logical rationality, and a benevolent somewhat mocking smile when their heads explode is actually kind of fun if you can keep from getting angry or frustrated.

I am an ex-pat "political pamphleteer". I have tons of information about most current political subjects, from credible sources, already printed out and readily available. I run a little volunteer "news service" for Dems or Independents that don't have consistent or broad access to internet, newspaper, or TV/Radio sources. These folks then spread the info on the local grapevine, and the freepers eventually get it this way too.

In the last month I've left 2 freepers stuttering speechless in full-on red-faced stroke mode fury. Dittoheads glare at me in silent fury when they see me. I don't bother with them because they lack the cognitive resources to understand that their is a difference between a researchable fact and a bald faced lie.

Freepers have been educated by Pox News and don't know anything but stupid rot wing talking points. The rare intelligent freeper that is willing to debate with me is toast, because I have da facts all printed out already.

Good news: Recently convinced an ex-marine purple heart Vietnam vet not to vote for Bu$h. I did this by consistently showing him proof that Bu$h is a deserter. He is also intelligent enough to check things out on his own on the internet. He's now disgusted at Bu$h, and yesterday brought to my attention the story of how Barnes got Bu$h into the National Guard and how Bu$h was a drunken political liability to his father while he was in Texas.

Don't fear the freeper.
