Things to say to make Republican's heads explode........
Edited on Fri Sep-03-04 06:47 AM by mopaul
just a partial list, feel free to add yours.

did you know that bush's grandpa financed adolph hitler?
(effective cause it's true)

did you know that arnold schwarzenegger's daddy was a storm trooper nazi for hitler? (they hate this one, cause it's true)

tell me what's so great about the way bush 'responded' to terrorism?

tell me why bush knew 9-11 was coming and didn't bother to tell us, and went on vacation.

where are all the guys who served with bush in the TANG?

if Bill Clinton had snorted cocaine and drank whiskey for half his life, would you have used it against him?

why do you admire a man who is so obviously stupid?

can you show me the medals of valor that bush earned in vietnam?

can you show me saddam's weapons of mass destruction?

can you tell me why osama has never been caught and how that makes us safer?

would you send your own son or daughter gladly off to baghdad to fight?

would you yourself put on a uniform and get involved in bush's war?

did you know the first lady is the first to have killed a man?

............................

these are just a few sentence stoppers to consider when speaking with assholes and the terminally stupid.

1. Some good ideas, but focus on the less sensational more commonsense issues
Focus on Bush misleading the nation into war.

Where's Osama?

Where's the WMDs?

How many new terrorists do you suppose Bush has created.

Do you like the $7,000 extra debt for every child and adult in the country that Bush has added? ($2,000,000,000,000 two trillion dollars)

Do you like the way Bush has cut Veteran's benefits and hospitals?

3. why can't bush write his own speeches?
why can't he understand reporters questions? why does the president never read newspapers or books? why did bush have to cheat to win?
why did he dodge the draft? why did he lie to us about iraq? why does he never attend soldier's funerals?

5. I can't believe Bush wants to double tax SUVs and full-size pickups
Hey, Laura Bush said she is running for Senator of Connecticut.

That's pretty wild that COndi Rice had a child by George back in the 70s.

Listen, if George says we should be in the UN, then it must be OK.

etc. etc.

6. Some of my talking points
When fighting the notion that going into Iraq is effective in the war on terror:

Iraq was not a gathering threat per Cheney, it was a dying threat. (partial credit to Zhade)

We are missing the terrorists with our bombs and creating more hate and more terrorists.

Who is going to pay (in blood and money) for the neocon vision of using military force in the middle east to create democracy. (If they don't know about neoconservatism I give them a brief overview of the evolution and major players.)

Afghansitan was never finished, we should have kept our forces there and finished the job.

9. Kerry faced bullets. Bush can't even face ballots.
Yes, I know a lot of people buy the notion that the ballots were counted and recounted, and that Bush would have won under any circumstance. But would a secure candidate have asked the counting to stop? What was he afraid of?

Kerry faced the Vietcong. Bush can't even face the press corps. (Factoid: Bush has dramatically fewer press conferences than did his father or Bill Clinton. I think his father had six to eight times as many press conferences in his presidency than Bush has had in his own.)

At the conclusion of 2001, Bush said, "All in all, it's been a fabulous year for Laura and me." This after he came to office amid protests and considerable division and anger. This after thousands of people lost their jobs that year. This after thousands died in the 9/11 attacks. This after we went to war -- a war which continues to this day.

Other pointers:

Following the war in Bosnia, Clinton traveled to the Balkans with his wife and daughter, and all three of them mingled with the people.

Bush goes on a state visit to one of our most loyal allies, Britain, and he must be kept behind barriers. The same thing happened in Ireland, which is basically a neutral country.

If Bush were "spreading the peace" and democracy, wouldn't he be greeted by cheering crowds not only in Western Europe but in the Middle East? They had to sneak him into Iraq.

If Bush is winning hearts and minds in the Middle East, why do opinion polls show dramatically increased dislike and disapproval of the U.S. among citizens in those countries?

12. Yeah, But Kerry Wasn't Shot That Badly!
That's the answer you'll get to your title. Somehow, these people have the hubris to suggest that getting shot in war only counts if one gets shot "bad enough".

So, facing bullets is not enough. Getting hit by one, is not enough, if it's just a minor wound. Think i might be off on this? Think purple heart bandaids! The facing bullets thing won't make their heads explode. It will give them ammunition. Small caliber, to be sure. But, adds to the clip.

17. Yeah, and Max Cleland wasn't wounded enough.
"Oh, and you're in charge of Navy records now?"

Come on, people, these GOP shills are low, mean, and ignorant. They do not have a point with "not wounded enough." They weren't there! A smear campaign financed by Texas Republican Bush-backers comes out and suddenly Kerry wasn't wounded enough.

If John O'Neill told these people to jump off the Washington Monument, they'd go. Don't let them pull that puerile "Kerry wasn't wounded enough." It's not from the Department of the Navy, it's from Merrie Spaeth and Bob Perry and Nixon recruit John O'Neill.

30. Ask them why they don't trust the military to give medals.
I realize they will indeed say Kerry wasn't wounded badly enough. We just need to throw their comments back in their faces as "anti-veteran." There were angry responses from veterans regarding the purple heart band-aids at the convention, for example.

16. So, do you remember the REAL reason for 9/11?
The reason as stated by Osama himself was to rid Saudi Arabia of foreign troops.
We pulled our final troops out of Saudi Arabia last year.
Who won?

And we invaded Iraq to establish a "beachead" in the middle east, when we already had troops in several Arab nations. Now, in between the warnings of an impending strike in the US, we can fight the terrorists over there, and not here.

18. pro-life = anti birth control
not a lot of rank and file people who say they suppport the position known as "pro-life" are aware of this. And it could be a huge problem for the PL camp if we effectively educate the public on it. But so far we haven't done it.

For the leaders in the pro-life camp, making abortion illegal is just the tip of the ice berg. They want to do away with birth control, i.e. The Pill. Period.

One aspect of the abortion issue isn't really about abortion. It's about whether a woman controls her fertility and therefore her life. There are still people in this world, in 2004!! no less, who don't want women to control their own destinies. They still believe women need to be dependent and helpless.

26. Here's what I would talk about...
Deficit and debt. Our children and grandchildren are the ones that are going to have to deal with this problem. Right now one of the biggest items in the budget is interest on loans that we have to take out to run the government under a deficit. And most of those loans are held by foreign governments like China and Japan.

Foreign relations. We will never win a "war on terrorism" if we keep strong-arming and bullying countries. If we don't have respect for other countries then how can we expect them to respect us?

Honesty. How can you trust the administration to do the right things for us when they can't be honest with us. They bullied the intelligence community into providing very tenuous information about Iraq which has since been proven to be false. They provided Congress with a low-balled figure for the Medicare bill because they knew the actual cost would have been a deal-breaker. He awarded a no bid contract to Halliburton (Cheney's company) who was found to have overcharged the government millions of dollars carrying out the contract.

The economy. Every American is making less money now than when Bush took office due to the increased healthcare costs, increased gas/oil costs, increases in local/state taxes to make up for lost federal revenue, stagnant wages, etc. 3 Million people have lost their jobs during Bush's first term. Almost 9 million Americans have lost their health insurance during Bush's first term. By contrast, Clinton added 20 million jobs over two terms and more than 1.5 million Americans got health coverage for the first time.

Bush is not strong on the military/defense. He has weakened the military by depending too heavily on reservists/national guardsmen who have been taken away from their families and jobs to fight in Afghanistan and Iraq. Many of these men will not re-enlist due to the hardships that their service has caused them and their families. Also, we sent them into combat in Iraq without providing them with the necessary equipment (body armor, etc) that they needed to do the job. He has stretched the military so thin that if we needed to respond to North Korea we would be hard pressed to do so. He has cut benefits for veterans. His 2003 budget provided $2 million less than veterans groups said was needed. His 2004 budget disqualifies vets who make over $24,000 a year from receiving health benefits.
