6. He's at a hospital right now.
I just caught Blitzer saying he was having surgery. I don't know any more than that. The graphic on the screen said "Clinton having surgery." :(

17. FACT time
Usually when someone comes in with chest pain and it's confirmed by a quick EKG, he's rushed to the cardiac catherization lab. Since this procedure involves a cutdown into the femoral artery at the groin, it's termed "surgery." It is an invasive process.

They diagnose exactly where the blockage is during this procedure, and in many cases, can open it up and put in a stent to keep it open. Only in a few cases is it serious enough to warrant emergency bypass surgery.
Most people needing bypass will recover from the catheterization and be prepped for a couple of days, first.

That he made it into the hospital in plenty of time is a good thing. However, the party's over. Those cigars have got to go.

24. I don't think he's a heavy smoker.
He only smokes them on special occasions. I know bypass surgery is common and done all the time, but I can't help but think of my former Senator Paul Simon. He died during bypass surgery, I do believe. :(

10. Clinton is in otherwise good health. And Columbia has a stellar
cardiac unit.

I believe he'll be fine after everything is said and done. (I refuse to see it any other way . . . )

11. CNN is reporting TESTS, no mention of Surgery
you really should edit your subject line. it's needlessly alarming and, as far as the latest report on CNN, completely untrue.

25. If he has not had heart damage it might not be so bad!
If they can do the by-pass without using the heart lung machine it's not as bad! They did mine without stopping my heart and I was home four days later! If it goes right in 6 weeks he'll be fine! There is always the danger of a stroke during the by-pass! I had a mild stroke that messed up my hand, when I had mine! The worst part is the waiting after they tell you you have to have the by-pass!

If Mr Clinton got to the hospital before he actually had a heart attack, that damaged heart tissue, this won't be so bad! Still it is no picnic, by a long shot! It is very scarey any way you look at it, when it's happening to you! Judging by the shape he appears to be in otherwise, he should do fine!

19. You know...
In his last few public appearances (including, yes, his Dem. Convention speech, to some extent) he looked, and sounded, tired and out of breath. My wife and I commented that we hoped he wasn't sick. Those kinds of things ARE symptoms of heart trouble, so this would, unfortunately, make sense.:(

We'll say one for him that he'll be alright, and come through that bypass surgery with flying colors. Hugs to Hillary and Chelsea!

B-)

23. Terrible! I hope he's okay.
Thank goodness he went in when he did.

It's so strange, I was just this morning thinking about how healthy he looks lately.

Selfishly, I'm so sad that he won't be on the campaign trail. But above all I just hope he recovers from the surgery without any complications. (My dad had quadruple bypass, and suffered a massive stroke during or right after the surgery. He was never the same.)

and they took a vein out of one of his legs and to this day he has a hard time walking. So much can go wrong.

This worries me. I pray he's OK.

27. Here is my well wish for the Big Dawg!
Written by christine mcvie.

If you wake up and don’t want to smile,
If it takes just a little while,
Open your eyes and look at the day,
You’ll see things in a different way.

Don’t stop, thinking about tomorrow,
Don’t stop, it’ll soon be here,
It’ll be, better than before,
Yesterday’s gone, yesterday’s gone.

Why not think about times to come,
And not about the things that you’ve done,
If your life was bad to you,
Just think what tomorrow will do.

Don’t stop, thinking about tomorrow,
Don’t stop, it’ll soon be here,
It’ll be, better than before,
Yesterday’s gone, yesterday’s gone.

All I want is to see you smile,
If it takes just a little while,
I know you don’t believe that it’s true,
I never meant any harm to you.

Don’t stop, thinking about tomorrow,
Don’t stop, it’ll soon be here,
It’ll be, better than before,
Yesterday’s gone, yesterday’s gone.

Don’t you look back,
Don’t you look back.
