If it were Cheney in for bypass surgery would we be any better than Freeps
Edited on Fri Sep-03-04 12:45 PM by Bandit
I have seen a tremendous amount of hatred expressed on these boards and somehow I think if it were Cheney in for heart surgery there would be posts here to rival some of those in Freeperland. I could only hope we would be better than that but some people here are filled with hatred. I think I would just have to hold my tongue because I would have a hard time saying anything good about the man.

2. Yeah. Our insults are way better.
anyways the threads wouldn't be pulled, and we'd
have DU people praying for Cheney and posting
well wishes, and telling the rest of us to have
a heart.

At freeperland it would be nothing BUT bashing
and death wishes.

That is, if the threads weren't being pulled to
avoid embarrassing O'Neill any more than he was
been by freeperland.

12. You seem to forget
Clinton is a past president with extremely high approval ratings and is not in this election at all. As a human, who did an extremely good job for this country, he has earned our get well wishes and respect.

Cheney is a sitting vice president who is as nasty as they come. Being mean spirited and hateful is his stock in trade. Its the only thing he knows. He is fair game.

Doesn't matter in the least bit if we would or wouldn't. This is the situation, and this is what they're saying.

6. Cheney
If it were Cheney I would wish him a speedy recovery and recommend that he retire for the sake of his (and our) health. I was one of those who were appalled by some of the things that were said about Reagan here on the day of his death. To be sure I had nothing good to say about the man but some on DU went too far IMO.

If, on the other hand, it was The Leader it would be different...

8. The difference is that we would be scolded from several posters....
and the posts wouldn't be deleted like they would be on the freeper board.

Then about half of the people would feel guilty about it.

9. Hmmm... I'm thinking....
Cheney won points with me for sticking up for his daughter. If he were having bypass surgery though, I would not consider him VP material; he'll definitely be out of commission for a while.

However, I don't think I'd say anything nasty.

10. No, probably not.
After Reagan died I realized that no, we are no better because we are all human. Some can restrain themselves until the grieving is over some cannot or do not feel like they need to. Big tent here. That being said, there is one HUGE difference between what Cheney has done to this country and what Clinton did for this country. At Clinton's worst he was still a good human. At Cheneys best he is still a mean, nasty, cruel robot.

I can speak only for myself but I wish no harm to anyone, even someone I find as morally reprehensible as Cheney. I don't like him. I still don't wish him ill.

13. Cheney won't be in the hospital. His heart's only 29 years old...
Or would Chandra have been only 28 this year?

You are correct, though, and I stand Guilty as Charged.

15. Cheney can live forever. The media that supports him needs to die.
And quickly. We need a free press. That supports "We the People". Not just rich maggots like Cheney and the squatter. I say again. I don`t want Cheney to die. When he is not being protected by the media whores. His pure evil is evident. And evil will be around forever anyway. So it might as well be his "too good to count my vote ass".

29. Probably not, but that doesn't make it right.
There was a lot of "dancing in the end zone" here when Reagan died, which was karmically wrong, IMO.

Don't get me wrong, I **loathe** Cheney and every other right-winger who wants to take this nation down into hell, but when they're sick or dying or have suffered great pain and loss, they are no longer the enemy.

The fight should be taken to all the others who are still standing on the field, as it were.

30. Your doubts are waranted
Edited on Fri Sep-03-04 05:02 PM by Comicstripper
There is a troubling, nay, sickening amount of partisanship, hypocrisy, and double standards here. Any polls which show Kerry behind are bullshit and are immediately investigated. Positive polls are accepted and forgotten. I'm growing disillusioned with this board, and I don't think I'm the only one.
