pet peeve of mine: 04 isn't the most important election of our lifetimes.
2000 was. if bush hadn't won then, we wouldnt be in iraq, all his policies wouldn't have happened, and its highly likely that we woulda kept the senate. furthermore, the importance of THIS election cycle would be moot, since we'd already be in power.

1. Correction:
Bush did NOT win in 2000. Since he WAS appointed in 2000, that makes this the most important election ever. You're wrong.

OK, it's the SECOND most important election of our lifetimes

and has the potential to be the LAST election of our lifetimes.

Not to mention, it's the only one we can do anything about now.

2. No, '02 was... wait, I remember '00 being more important, and it was first
lol!

Actually, like you, I do consider 2000 as the big (downward) turning point for our Country.

I'm completely sick of pols and pundits uttering this every 2 years!

5. Correction: ALL elections are the most important!
These dictate our lives, from the international to local level. Vote as if they'll affect your life, because they all will.

7. Yes, but unless you've got a time machine, let's focus on 2004.
No, I'm not saying "get over" 2000!

But our next chance is 2004. Any bitterness & anger left over from 2000? Great, let's use that energy to try to get out the vote--& to get it counted!

10. It is the most important
because if they stay in power, there is no need for pretense since they don't have to worry about re-election. The Supreme Court is at stake, as well as numerous programs that this adminsitration is determined to get rid of including social security, environmental laws, etc. At least in his first term Bush had to maintain some semblance of caring for all people, some restraint--because he had to worry about getting reelected. No need to pretend in term #2. It is precisely because there is no need for them to control themselves this time that everything is at stake and that makes this the most important election. I do hope we never have to find out what his second term is. But if we do, I doubt there will be many of us thinking this WASN'T the most important election of our time.

11. can you see that none of this would be an issue if they hadn't gotten
selected in 2000? hence my reasoning.

12. Pev: Pro-Lifers on the Rupub side
Pro-Lifers on the Rupub side keep saying the most important election b/c Bush will outlaw abortion. Alot of Christian ministers, Catholic priets and mainly Christians are announcing this all over the place that Bush has to be elected to outlaw abortion.

WAKE UP - Bush has been in office for 4 years, Rupubs have held the Congress floor, if he wanted to do it he would have done it by now.

Your right this is not the most important, but I think all of them are equally important.

13. Bull.
He's waiting for a Supreme Court justice to retire so he can appoint the wingnut to replace him/her. It will happen on his watch, but it won't officially be HIM that does it. He'll take credit for all of it, though.

He wants a majority on the bench that will support him in this. That's all it will take. And whether you choose to believe it or not, it will happen if he is re-elected.

16. I thoughtfully diagree completely...
Though most of us had a hunch, NO ONE knew.. at the time.. how badly Bush could destroy the country in 4 years. THIS election is the most important.. and here's why: Bush, having no fear of being re-elected, will push thru every single agenda near and dear to his reptile heart in the next four years. YOu think America sucks right now? Give Bush four more years.. it could be catastrophic for the world.. to the point of no return.

This election is most important because we have a CHANCE to undo what has been done.. there is still time.

18. I don't agree with you
Trying to make it short and simple: You are taking a ride down a nice highway, you take a turn and head toward a cliff, you drive over the cliff.

You are taking a ride down the highway - Clinton years

You take a turn and head toward a cliff - Bush years

You drive over the cliff - another 4 years of Bush

We have headed down the wrong road in the wrong direction since 2000, we have turned into the wrong direction. 2000 wrong turn, wrong direction, going towards the cliff.

When we go over the cliff, it is the crisis that will happen this election if Bush gets back into office. 2004 over the cliff

20. Yes, it was, in 2000. Things are now so much worse, that **this** one is
even more urgent, and thus, the most important election of our lifetimes.

But I get your point.
