**** OFFICIAL DU CLINTON WELL-WISHERS THREAD #3 ****
In response to the news about Bill Clinton's health scare and surgery, many DU members have already approached me to ask if we could do something for him. I briefly discussed it with the other Admins, and here's what we've decided to do.

We would like all concerned DU members to post their well-wishes in this thread. You can post as much or as little as you like. If you'd like, you may consider signing your post with your name and hometown. I will open additional official well-wishers threads as necessary.

Once everyone has had ample opportunity to post their thoughts, I will print out or transcribe the thread(s) and forward them to Bill Clinton's office, along with a card or flowers or some other appropriate gift.

I trust that all DU members will participate in this thread with the appropriate level of respect. Inappropriate or disruptive comments will not be appreciated.

Thank you.

David Allen
DU Administrator

This is thread #3. Here are Thread #1 and Thread #2.

My best wishes go out to you to have a fast and smooth recovery from your surgery! My mom underwent quadruple bypass in 1997, and is doing remarkably well since then. It can be a bit scary, but rest well knowing that there are many millions of us who want to see you sitting with Hillary and Chelsea on January 20, 2005 as John Kerry is inaugurated as the 44th president! Keep your spirits up and we'll all be cheering you on!

President Kennedy was My hero.I never felt that way about a
President again until You. In 1992 You gave a speech that
welcomed

I had a dream we met. You were jogging along the beach, wearing a navy blue jogging suit, when you stopped to talk to me. I won't tell you what I said, because it's better that you hear it in person. I won't tell you what you said, because you still have plenty of time to consider what you want to say. You will know that when you were in the hospital, I wished you well.

It was an honor and privilege to have met you in 1992, when you completely won me and my wife over, and it was a pleasure having you as a real American President who truly fought for all of us. And in 1992, you entranced an eight year girl, my daughter, who decided you were "pretty neat". You fueled an interest in politics which exists to this day. Get well soon President Clinton, America needs you.

42. Dear Mr. President,
Our family is quite shocked to learn of your illness.
It was just this past Tuesday that my husband and I were proud to learn you'd met our daughter-in-law Samantha and our grandson Nicholas at a book signing in the Cleveland area.

I'm grateful for so many wonderful things you did as President; from your valiant efforts to preserve and protect our environment to your work to ensure that ALL Americans were free...not just a select few.
How our country would benefit from your leadership these days!

But oddly enough, of all the things you've done, I'm most grateful that you were there to meet Samantha and Nicholas the other day. You see, Sam and Dave, my stepson, lost their first baby to SIDS in June of 2003, when he was just five months old. Nicholas' arrival in April this year was a blessing, of course; but until his visit with you, most of the experiences Dave and Sam shared with their son were replays of things they'd done with little Zachary...different, but the same. Thank you so very much for breaking that trend and instilling fresh hope into their lives.

You and your family are in our thoughts as we pray for your speedy recovery.

Warmest Wishes,
Brenda Anna

Dear President Clinton,

I saw you at McCaw Hall in Seattle when you spoke there for SpeakEasy. You were very, very inspiring to me and, I imagine, to all the others who attended. I took the advice you gave and "joined a club", my local Democratic legislative district. I have been working and doing with others since then, just about a year. As you said, I don't always like it, but I am working toward what I think is right with others who see things pretty much as I do.

I don't know what else to say to inspire you, than to relate my little story of how you inspired me. You are a very important person to people like me. We want to hear your wisdom from you in the coming days and years. We want you to continue to help African AIDS victims. We want you to see your daughter do the great things she bound to do. We want to be with you.

There are many who have recovered spectacularly from bypass surgery, and I know you'll be one of them.

Sincerely,

Bob Shields

I've never been so proud of our country's leadership as during your two terms.

My daughter is now enjoying family leave with her second adoptive daughter due to the Medical & Family Leave Act and adoption-aid

I hope you have a relatively easy time with the operation and a speedy recovery. We need you out there as an inspiring part of our national life.

Our prayers, thoughts and best wishes for a speedy recovery are with you tonight and in the days to come.

So many times people on this board have posted that it would be wonderful if we had a president of your caliber back in the White House. It's heartbreaking now, when you look at what a mess we're in, to look back on the eight years you were in the White House. Those were the years that we had the respect and support of the rest of the world. Those were certainly the days.

God bless you, Hillary, and Chelsea.

78. Get Well Soon President Clinton
You were part of my very first political conversation. My mother had the chance to meet you as you toured her place of work on a re-election campaign for governor. As she told me about meeting you, explaining to me all you told the group, we talked politics and issues. She told me that day you would one day be president. A few years later you were. For your re-election in 1996 I drove her to cast her vote. Even though her health was failing and traveled nowhere else, she wanted to vote for you. She passed away a few years ago, but I know she would wish you well if she could, which is why I post this. You've meant so much to my family through the years, through your work as governor and president. Thank you for a job well done and we all wish the best to you and your family.

Please accept my sincere, heartfelt and profound thoughts, prayers and best wishes for a successful operation and a speedy and comprehensive recovery. You and your family are, and always have bee, very close to my heart and you have a lot of people around the world praying and thinking for you at the present time.

Just take it easy and rest for the next few months -you deserve a good break after all you have done for America and the world over the previous twelve years. I miss the peace, prosperity and strong leadership that we enjoyed under your Administration and the privilege of going to bed every night safe in the knowledge that there was a good man in the White House who would would look after all of us. You created a wonderful environment for my high school years and I have so many fond memories of the wisdom and leadership you displayed in office that it quite often brings tears to my eyes remembering how good things were when you were in office

As I live in a country outside the US-Australia-I can testify to the fact that America was never more respected around the world than when you were President. When you were President, people I know who have been antagonistic or sceptical toward America for years, came to have a profound love and admiration of the US. When you were President, people of my generation grew up believing that the US was a force for justice and truth around the globe. You built up a tremendous amount of love and goodwill toward the United States that could have endured for generations to come if not for the actions of this present Administration

We need more people like you, Bill. Please take it easy, get well and put yourself first. You've certainly deserved it. All the very best once again

Regards,
Owen

Dear President Clinton,

I don't know what I miss most about your presidency. Maybe it was your eloquence; maybe it was your genuine compassion for the citizens you served; maybe it was the intelligent, thoughtful handling of your duties as president. All I can say is that you were and are a huge inspiration to me, and it is because of your influence I will be casting my first vote in a presidential election for Senator John Kerry of Massachussetts.

You have suffered at the hands of others far more than you deserved, but you have always triumphed, and I know that you will triumph over this setback as well. Know that you, your brilliant wife, and your promising daughter are in my thoughts and prayers as you face--and conquer--the challenges ahead of you.

Get well soon,

118. Dear President Clinton . . .
You will be back on the golf course in no time. I have no doubt that you are going to be fine. My dad was 72 years old and a very poor candidate for ANY surgery, but he had a triple bypass, and they had him sitting up that evening. I couldn't believe he was up and moving so fast, but he was fussing the whole time, so I knew he was going to be ok (laughing).

I know the way the surgeons and anesthesiologists explain the procedure, and the way they talk about the surgery it seems so extreme and involved; however, to the surgeons, it's a surgery they do over and over again. You are as healthy as a horse (or so the experts are telling us) so I am sure you will be fine. You have weathered worse storms than this and have come through with flying colors. You will be in my families thoughts and prayers as well as Mrs. Clinton and Chelsea.

You are my hero, President Clinton. You are the reason I started paying attention to what was going on in this country politically. Sometimes I wish I hadn't gotten so interested in what was going on in this country. I am now a political addict and give my husband a daily update (whether he wants it or not) everyday when he gets home.

This Country misses you and is openly suffering. To some of us, you are still, and always will be our President; however, I know in my heart, that Mrs. Clinton will be the first female President of the United States. You know what that would make you . . . the
"First Gentleman." I cannot wait for the day. Just thinking about it now makes me smile.

In closing, again, it will be over before you know it. Plus, you are not finished with your work on your foundation. Just remember though that everything you eat from now on probably will have little flavor. No more cat-head biscuits and sausage gravy though. Also, a lot of us love you and your family like our own . . . so let us know if you all need anything.

Kindest regards,

119. Hey, Big Dog ... you're in our thoughts and prayers
But I know you'll pull through with style and will be back working the cause in no time.

During your Presidency, this country knew a level of peace and prosperity unequalled in my 48 years of life. You held the line against the terrorists and whittled Sadaam Hussein down into a trivial power. People knew the commander and chied cared about their well being. It was a bright time, and you were a big part of making it so. "Thank you" seems a totally inadequate expression of our appreciation for your efforts.

We miss you and our prayers are with you. Can't wait to see you on that Campaign trail in a few weeks! No one on the political scene today can give a stump speech to compare with "The Big Dawg!" We miss you and know that Kerry and Edwards will be needing every bit of that goodwill and cheer you so easily spread wherever you go.

Best to you!

122. My Big Dawg
Mr. President, I was a child that grew up in your 8 wonderful years as president, believed in you for the man you were and what you fought for, I didn't care where your penis was, that was your business.

I would like to thank you for all the education reforms you implemented and for making it possible for me to be in college now, I might not otherwise have been able to afford it if it wasn't for those reforms.

I thank you for the prosperity that I witnessed around me and my town, and I thank you for keeping the United States on good standing with the world during your term.

Your my Big Dawg, Bill. If you can fight of the Right Wing, this little heart hiccup should be a cake walk. You get well soon Bill!

130. You are still my President
Dear Mr. President,

My husband Eric and I will be praying for you and for a skilled surgeon, an uneventful surgery, and a very quick recovery. We'll also be thinking about Senator Clinton and Chelsea; I'm sure that they are going to be fine, but the waiting is so hard.

I am so sorry that I wasn't able to go to your book signing at Costco in Issaquah, WA, recently. I had to work that day, but the real reason I didn't go was that I was afraid I would do nothing but cry when I saw you. I know that you joked about "not inhaling," but when you were elected, I exhaled for the first time in 12 years. No matter what happened while you were in office, I wasn't worried. I knew that you would take care of it.

After September 11th, a photograph of a little boy hugging you in New York City was in the news. I still remember sending the link to my address book with the subject line, "This is my President".

I am so grateful that medical technology ensures you'll be with us for many, many more years. Please get some well-deserved rest, and we hope that you'll be feeling much better soon. Your family and the country needs you.

Thinking of you,
Julie (and Eric)

131. Please Mr. President -
Do as your doctors tell you. I assume that you've been informed that after surgery, providing you take care of yourself and do what you're told, You'll emerge a "new man". If so, does this mean you can run again?

If not, we still need you! Don't even think about not bouncing back!

As with millions of others, whether you are aware of it or not, you are a part of my family's special memories. One of the first sentences my daughter (now 13) spoke was "Kinton - YAY, Bush - Yuck".
She didn't excel at grammar or pronunciation, but her sentiments were true then, as now.

Please get well soon!

A devoted Democrat from Billerica Massachusetts.

142. Dear President Clinton,
You are held in high esteem in our family and we're sorry to hear of your illness.
A quick anecdote for you: When my mother was very ill, she fell into a diabetic coma and was rushed to the hospital. As you can imagine, it was a traumatic event for us. As she was given medication, a couple of nurses in the room were discussing you-in not the most respectful manner. Well, when my mother was able to, she immediately came to your defense- telling them that you would be vindicated and generally chastising them on your behalf. My family cracked up laughing at that point. Only my Mom would start talking politics and defending you from a gurney in the ER. I'll never forget that.
So, get we all hope you get well soon so you can share the victory in November.
I'll keep you and your family in my prayers for health and happiness.

Sincerely,

Gwyn M. in Easton, MA

I voted for you twice, despite the fact that I was always against NAFTA and I wished you had shown a bit more gumption about going to bat for the goals of the party of FDR, Truman, and Kennedy.

I knew you wanted to build a coalition, but you did not have a bi-partisan Republican Party. You had to fight off the thugs. They are bigger thugs than ever.

But I could not help but vote for someone with your obvious joie de vivre, and love for humanity. Go into the OR with a light heart, Bill Clinton. You are loved. Get well soon, the Democrats will need your voice and humor, in a very grim and bloody time. We got your back while your shit gets in one sack.

147. Bill...What you need is a laugh..listen in(quietly)
Of course Twiggy has the brains to be in control of his Administration...It is only Powell that he has trouble in comprehending.

Have a listen in

Old Rumsfeld...
"Mr President,I just received a short message from our pal Saddam..apparently Mr Perle received it from one of Saddie's envoys..I cannot understand it, as it is either in code or Saddies English ain't to good"

Bush (with smug face)..
"Let me have a looksee...whats this "370H55V 0773H".....uhh..Must be in Arab or Dutch or one of those funny Old Brit or German dialects."

Old Rumsfeld...(with lots of lines on forehead)
"No Mr President,I am of German decent and I don't recognise it and double Dutch is an entirely different language which I know like the back of my hand..Shall I call Dickey sir."

Bush... (also with lines on forehead)
"If you have his bunker number..Yea sure ,might as well....he is good at seeing things we cant."

Cheney....(on entering room)
"Georgie boy, Old Rummsie here tells me that this coded message came from Saddam via Perle and Kristol...Well,I think it is one of his bank account numbers that he is offering you and your daddy, if you forget the past twelve years and get the relationship back on track like in the 80's..Old Rummy boy here agrees with me."

Bush..(wonderful smile on face)
"Good God(sorry Ashcroft) do you mean he is trying to buy me off..What guts...Is it a Swiss or off-shore account..Got to be extremely careful nowadays as Putin's police are all over the place...ask their "Z" oil boys overthere"

Cheney...(a kinda fathers pride on face)
"Thats right..and if we were to reject this offer we would have to stay in Iraq and get our asses kick again and again...I say we take the offer and give Tony and his Strawman 2% of the take...Your Daddy would be so proud."

Bush..(looking a little uneasy)
"Well,I would like to have Rice's input as she at one time supposedly knew the Russian and their ways of handling things..Get her Rummy...(waiting)......Aaah there you are Condessa(?)...What do you think of this coded message from Mr Yousain.."370H55V 0773H"....Is it one of those Soviet languages as there were so many of them before Ronnie and Maggie and old friend Binnie kick their asses."

Rice..(looking a little bemused)
"Its definately not Russian,Latvian or Slovakian.....Sir,it could be the knew Z to A(Zion to America) alphabet the Mossad has designed for our CIA guys..It definately follows the known derivative of the Zionists logarithm sir...Since it came via Perle, Kristol and Wolfewitz I would most certainly say its really from Ariel Sharon and not Mr Hussien sir."

Bush..(touches cross hidden under shirt)
"You mean Sharon has banked all our loans to him and really wants to give it back to the American taxpayers on this account number .."370H55V 0773H"...What a man...Admirable...I knew I was right about that guy...I can pick-em....Wait till I tell that Powell...I knew I had a friend in Sharon....Well Dickey boy, that saves us 2%.....Tony is not to be told..right....status quo."

Old Rumsfeld..(also getting excited)
"Great balls of fire, shock and awe and all that....I knew my working on those stupid dual nationality neocons that there would be a pay off day..the day has come...But I think that caution should be called upon at this juncture Mr President ,so although we really have not used them correctly over the past two years Sir..I will get Tenet up here ASAP to verify the Sharon Logarithm"

Bush (smirk on face..as Tenet, head lowered, enters room)
"Aah George my boy...You have done an amazing job over this last couple of years...911,Mossad,Binnie, and all that...What is this coded message "370H55V 0773H" that came via Perle, Kristol,Wolfewitz and Pipes this morning..Is it from Sharon or Yousain and what the hell is this code...or is it an account number"

Tenet..(still with sword in chest)
"Mr President..yes you sir..as it happens sir, the Zmen...Perle,Kristol,Frum,Wolfowitz,Pipes,Asper,Leeden,Dichter,Black,Rove,Lieberman,Feith and a half a dozen others gave it to me yesterday sir...It was given to them by Mr Powell who apparently took it from an envoy Mr President...yes you sir"

Bush...(red around neck...really)
"Get that goddam Powell in here Rumsfeld NOW...its about time this guy toed the line as he cannot see the wood sometimes because of the tree..Its all these goddam wars he has been in..permanent shell shocked...The obvious eludes him.....no brains.....no awareness of reality....everything soars over his head...My brilliant team marred by one guy...GET HIM RUMMIE."

Powell...(enters the Oval Office with Mother Teresa look on face)
"You called Mr President..yes you sir"

Bush...(Fuming at gills)
"Does it always take you an hour to get up here when I call Powell...The Administration team in this room is costing the American tax payer $1,000,000 an hour for your information...Now what the hell is this coded message.."370H55V 0773H" you gave to all those neocons that I sacked last week..and who was the message for "

Powell..(peeing his pants)
"It was for you Mr President..yes,you sir"

Bush..(bottom lip paralysed)
"Well, what the hell does it say"

Powell..(moment of truth for Administration)
"Sir.... YOU ARE READING IT UPSIDE DOWN.........sir"

Bush...(neck puffed,eyes squinted,ears fully extended,nostril's open wide)
"Was it Sharon or Yousain"

Powell..(Thinking of his own Presidency run in 04)
"Cannot remember now sir...must be those shell hits I had...or did I???? "

Cheney has heart attack
Rice falls to ground in prayer
Powell and Bush starts fighting on Oval Office carpet.
Tenet finally takes sword out of chest and tosses it to Powell
Old Rumsfeld makes notes in little black book..for next time

Author...Troedyrhiw(WelshBrit)...(kieth norman canada)

Ps..Write the code down as did Old Rummie..then turn it upside down....no disrespect intended.

167. Dear President Clinton,
I was so sorry to hear of your need for surgery. I have undergone surgery three times and don't recommend it, as it can be a very frightening thing. But I survived it and am healthy, today, because of it. I have every hope that your surgery will be very successful and that you will be just fine, after a period of recovery. Just don't rush it. Mu uncle also had bypass surgery, in Albany, NY, and I was very frightened for him. He was much older than you are and very frail, having suffered from blockages for a number of years. But I was totally amazed, he recovered far ahead of schedule, so I am sure that you will do the same. Please know that your constituants are still thinking of you, praying for you, and are with you in this. And thank you for sending Hillary to us. We miss you, Mr. President.

168. I want to know you are very respected and well loved
by me and my family. I have prayed for you many, many times
since I first came to know alittle bit about the man you where during
you first presidential election. We believed in you and you
never let us down. I don't think anyone will ever be
more fitting to be our Commander and Chief than you.
We look forward to one day having you back in the White House
as President Hillary Rodham Clinton's husband! But you gotta get
better first! God Bless you and your family. I will pray for you all.

M.Day
