About The Terrorism In Russia
Edited on Fri Sep-03-04 06:21 PM by Yavin4
I thought that getting rid of Saddam would mean the end of terrorism. Since we've gotten rid of Saddam:

1)Thousands dead and continue to die in Iraq without any exit strategy

2)Major terrorist attack in Spain

3)Major terrorist attacks in Saudi Arabia. So much so that Americans are advised not to go there.

4)Kidnappings and beheadings occuring daily in Iraq.

Feel free to add to the list.

Folks, we are losing this "war on terrorism" because we fought an unnecessary war in Iraq. Al Qeda is getting stronger and stronger because of Bush.

Howard Dean was right, "We're not safer since capturing Saddam".

1. little white children getting hurt seems to upset us more than...
the brown ones in Iraq. And what is the difference? They are all innocent. There's blood on everyone's hands.

2. I am VERY upset about the children murdered in Iraq
But I still find what happened in Russia especially disgusting. I've seen plenty of threads on DU telling stories, showing photoes, etc. of children who have been injured, murdered, and in other ways dehumanized. I don't think that makes what happened in Russia any less horrible.

Have you heard the stories? The militants kept those children crowded in a sweltering gym, denying them any food, water, or medical attention, sneering at children who fainted from heat and exhaustion. They wouldn't even let them go to the bathroom. They held up corpses of people they killed, and told the children that if they made a sound, more of them would be killed as well.

Do I recognize the injustice and atrocities America has brought upon the nations of Iraq and Afghanistan (and Vietnam, and Korea, and a list that goes far longer than I can name)? I do, and I've posted about it here, and brought it up in public, on multiple occasions, as have many--if not all--DUers.

However, I feel completely justified in observing the utter horror of this situation as well. And while there is blood on the hands of America, not only for every child killed, but for every man and woman as well, I personally feel this is worse than what we have done, at least in some aspects, if only because these militants *specifically targeted* children, and did so with absolutely no mercy. You may disagree, as you have every right to.

I don't mean to jump on you specifically, elehhhhna. You do bring up a valid point, that we have been both complicit and active in the murder of many innocent children. I personally just don't think DUers are the ones that need to hear that message. Most of us mourn every day for the children this administration has murdered. But that doesn't make the atrociousness of what happened in Russia any less apparent to us.
