Who will defend the "Liberal Agenda" ? ...
WHO stands up to the torrent of abuse to say "I agree with the liberal agenda" ? ...

WHO will take a stand and say "I am a liberal, and I am PROUD to be a liberal" ? ...

WHO will draw the fire of the haters, and tell the world "We have enjoyed living in the very world which the 'liberal agenda' has created" ? ...

WHO will stand up when they slur and smear us with ad hominem insults ?????

WHO amongst us will stand up and be counted when asked "What has liberalism done for america" ? ...

WHERE are the supposed firebrands of liberalism: the Kennedy's, the Streisand's, et al .... WHERE are they ? ...

Does the world NOT know that FDR created a New Deal with the american people ? ....

Does the nation NOT understand how this 'New Deal' improved the lot of the common citizen ? ...

Does the citizenry NOT understand how FDR levelled the playing field for regular joes: how he corralled the markets and made them toe the line ? ... how he promoted a social security program that protected the old and infirm from devastating need and deprivation in times of economic stress ? ...

And what of the 'Great Society' ? ...

What of the 'War against Poverty' ???? ...

Was the War on Poverty NOT a worthy goal for an educated and civil people ? ... was it NOT a worthy goal for a nation rich in resources and a want for freedom ? ...

The results of the New Deal and the Great Society speak for themselves .... We have enjoyed the fruits of the ideas of great men who saw past the goals of self enrichment and personal gain, and saw something greater in the heights .... A noble idea: that government of, by, and for the people CAN institute bold ideas into action, and rid the world of needless want and hurt ....

THAT is what the 'Liberal Agenda' has done for us: it is the world that the Right pines for, but does not name ... it is the world in which we as a nation have prospered as working men and women, but from which we shy when asked "how so?" ....

How so ? ... because WE MADE IT SO ! ....

ALL gains made by regular citizens today had been built on the toil of men long dead ... men who suffered to obtain basic rights, men who went without, and KNEW they could make things better for their children ...

It was liberals, progressives if you will, whom we can thank for the noble institutions of public education, for taking care of the infirm, for feeding the hungry, for clothing the cold, and for sheltering the huddled masses ....

We have nothing to apologize for ... We have every right, aye: an OBLIGATION, to defend this powerful impulse ...

Liberalism WORKS! ...

IF the cause of government is to ennoble all men to greater heights: then Liberalism WORKS better than any other system ...

WHO will stand up and say it ? ...

WHO will defend what has worked for the last 70 years ?? ...

The party of the Right have made it their ultimate goal: to rip down the very programs formed by the New Deal and Great Society .... To bring this nation BACK to it's old haunts: gaunt faces, ragged children on dirty streets plying for pennies .... Lower and lower wages: decent men and women scrounging for food to feed their own ....

WHO will stand up, and in public say "I will defend the Liberal ideas that have propelled our nation to times of unprecedented prosperity" ?? ...

Make no mistake: IF FDR did not win in 1932, and if the Right Wing held government: this would be a different world indeed ... One which I greatly doubt would deserve praise ...

WHO amongst us, great and small, will stand up and be counted ?
