Well, my "no w" sticker got me harassed yesterday
i was on my way to corpus & had to pass through a "checkpoint charlie." usually, they just ask where i'm headed, or even just wave me on through. well, shortly before i got to the checkpoint, i got passed by a border patrol SUV, with both agents in it staring down at my car.

sooo, i pull up to the checkpoint & the guy standing there is about to wave me through, when another agent comes up & says no. they ask "permission" to look in my car, bang on the floor, the roof, look around the back of my station wagon (good luck, it's a real mess back thanks to my dogs who think it's a mobile playground when i have to take them to the vet). i just stare blankly at them, knowing why they're doing it because two of them are looking at me all smug. assholes. btw, their radios went off & supposedly they were supposed to BOLO for a load of chinese being illegally smuggled into the country. anyone hear of any busts of illegal aliens from china being found yesterday?

anyway, they finally wave me on & i smile & say sweetly "kerry in a landslide" just to let them know *I* know why they did it.

:grr: :grr: :grr:

have i told you lately how much i hate these people????

3. easy
if you say no, you get pulled over for a "secondary" inspection, then get your car handed back to you in a shoe box. no thanks.

most times the agents are mostly harmless, but assholes like those 2 who passed me yesterday & new grads out of the border patrol school in georgia really get off on a power trip....i think the only thing that saved me were a couple of law books i had back in the back....maybe i should find a good constitutional law text & stick it back there for show.....

6. What are the "check point charlies" for?
Is it a sobriety point or something?

8. We're in Texas.
They have border guards the closer you get down to South Texas.

We also have "weigh stations" where they check the gross tonnage (bill of lading) on large vehicles like trucks. Then compare it to your actual weight to see if you're smuggling drugs or immigrants, or if you're importing anything illegal like certain plants or other illegal substances.

Don't forget, we're actually northern Mexico here. ;-)

14. immigration checkpoints
set up all along the borders. if you live on the border, as i do, anytime you go anywhere, you have to pull over & go through the checkpoint. usually it's a quick "what's your citizenship?" "where you headed" etc.

13. Here in CA
when you heading back from San Diego toward Los Angeles they have a stop like that and they can pull you over and search your car inch by inch if they feel like it if ANYTHING makes them suspicious. I've never been stopped they have always just motioned me on but I'm always on edge. :scared: I don't want to have to stand there forever while they tear my car apart and go over it with a 'fine tooth comb' looking for drugs or illegals or whatever. :-(

4. That is a great response!
I would never have thought of something like that, perfect for lots of times that people try to intimidate you and you know why they are doing it. I never get hassled but if I do now I know the perfect response.

15. actually my best response was
a non-political one...the guy was getting a mite too invasive for my liking, so when he asked what business i had in corpus, i told him "to get a pelvic exam." (which was true by the way)

he couldn't have waved me through faster if he tried!! LOL

18. I filled my purse with a dozen tampax when I knew I'd be searched recently
I loved seeing that young security guy blush when I had to go through the metal detector. He closed my bag and waved me through so fast you'd think I'd put a gun to his head. Heh Heh. :)

7. Hey, Wolverine, we go there about once a month, so
which highway were you on? I would have hoped the Border agents would be against * for not doing enough to fund security at our borders.

BTW, Sheila Jackson Lee and Solomon Ortiz, among others, were warning Texas today of a higher than average potential for al queda to come through texas borders from Mexico. Said they had new intel on that.

I hate that there is so much * support here.

17. they're border patrol agents
'nuff said. most of them are okay, if a bit stiff-necked about the pres, but you do come across power-mad agents from time to time who love to bully people & push them around for any reason. which is why i smile & nod & be polite.

11. THESE PEOPLE HATE BEING LAUGHED AT.
They are bullies to the core, and they utterly despise being laughed at.

Just honest laughter, directed at them and their actions. They HATE it.
