4. Savage Weiner used to be some kind of beatnik, that is his background.

I remember seeing some old photo of him in front of City Lights bookstore in San Fran (one of the great bookstores of the world, IMHO).

That accounts for his particular type of verbal style. The guy is not without some some wit and talent, he's just an ass. I assume people like this actually made a cold conscious decision to play the knuckle dragging role to make money when they figured out RW hate was hot.

This is exactly what he is doing and exactly what Rush is doing and it makes them more dispicable than the worst of the real zealots. People like savage deserve to live under a bridge.

black doesn't work you have only one alternative - white (or vice versa) which is why some extremists flip extremes. They'll flip again when they realize their new extreme doesn't make them happy either.
Or just remain miserable forever.
I wish they could see complexity in the world, but I am really starting to believe that the choice to see complexity in the world is not available to them. Their brains may actually be hardwired to only see B/W. We'll see.

7. Savage is a curious guy

I listen to him on the drive home from work. When he talks about his background, it is either his youth in NYC, or the time he spent in the south sea islands.

I've also wondered about the oppurtunist angle. Of course, sometimes people with extreme views move to the other extreme. Consider David Horowitz, politically, or Geo. W. Bush, personally.
