Carville/Matalin - Both are Disingenuous
The definition for disingenous is "crafty, not straightforward".
If you ever saw their brief stints on the cable show "K street", you may have also picked up on this.
Those who say that they are 'JUST ANOTHER COUPLE' who happen to disagree on politics are VERY OFF BASE. They can not be compared to couples that simply vote different or disagree on politics.

THEY ARE POLITICAL OPERATIVES AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL!!!

These two people love having both bases covered with both parties.
These two people are masterful at political theater.
Theest two people make A LOT OF MONEY with their little game.

Compare them to somebody you know who was in the debate club. They could brag that they could take ANY SIDE on ANY ISSUE and win the debate. It is the ARGUMENT and WINNING that is their goal - not the issue itself. They love the attention more than they love the cause.

Matalin WORKS for Cheney and helps craft his strategy - she does not just vote for or support him.
Carville WORKED for Clinton and helped craft his strategy - he didn't just vote for or support him.

These two people are what TURNS OFF most non-voters.
They are quite simply, political "bought and paid for" theatrical whores with no real souls or convictions. Otherwise, they simply could not work for someone and some cause they they SUPPOSEDLY have such deep feelings about and ALSO make a life with someone that is ALSO WORKING every day to destroy everything that they SUPPOSEDLY care so much about. Cognitive dissonance.

A pox on both of them, I say.
A pox on their house. (Someone, please rescue their children and get them into a SANE household!).

2. No kidding
They have the most tired act in politics. The sight of either of them sends me diving for the remote.

They both may have had convictions at some point, but now they just milk their romantic comedy act for every dollar

3. I agree. I was not at all pleased with
Carvilles responses today. He was a bit on the useless side. Maitlin was just plain evil looking and speaking.

6. I agree absolutely.
..And I certainly don't want to see Carville take over the Kerry campaign, an idea that has been floated here many times. (It's not that he isn't really good at it...it's that he's sleeping with the enemy.)

7. You are wrong about Carville.
Watch Crossfire sometime when Ann Lewis or another
liberal guest nails one of the wacknuts.

Carville will be pounding his fist in the air and
bouncing up and down in his chair.

You can't fake that. That's real passion, and not
just the passion of scoring on an opponent.

8. They are both scary to me.
I believe the only side they are for is their side. Obviously Carville has lost credibility or he would be in the trenches with Kerry. There must be a reason he is not there. Think about it

10. Does Matalin work for Democrats? Does Carville work for
Republicans?

Non-voters probably don't even know who they are.

Did you ever read All's Fair? How do you know what they care about and don't care about?

I can't say I understand their relationship except for the fact that they have chosen the same career and they are both high performers in their careers - I imagine that creates some mutual respect.

11. Did you hear about Carville running one of Zell Miller's
campaigns? I did not know that. More than being married to Matalin, that makes me not trust him. I can understand the marriage. There are three forces in play there. First it's the opposites attract force. Secondly, they are both in the same business, so there is the something in common force. Third, I get the wallflower force in play here. Probably neither got asked out on a lot of dates before they found each other.

15. Zell Miller
When Carville worked for him, Miller was a moderate progressive populist Democrat. He wasn't the fascist rightwinger he is now. In his autobiography, Bill Clinton says that as Georgia became more conservative, Zell Miller did the same thing.

16. when Miller
voted for the Bush tax cut, Carville demanded that Miller return his campaign contribution. Carville is a great Democrat. His love life is none of anyone's business.

I think Carville regrets ever helping that turncoat

12. DLC/RNC - One big party hacks.
They should've both stuck to what they're good at. Selling used cars and aluminum siding to the rubes.

13. They are two very well-paid brats playing a game of...
capture the flag. Unfortunately, their little game has devastating consequences for the rest of us. My "admiration" of Carville is tempered with this knowledge.

18. They said today on MTP that Zel Miller officiated at their wedding!
What a horrible event that must have been!

He went on about how detestable it was for the GOP to take advantage of the man in the twilight of his years and render him a laughing stock and toss him aside.

She said Miller was passionate and committed in his support of * and truly disillusioned by his party. yada yada yada :puke:

21. bullshit
when will DUers stop judging people based on who they decide to date and marry? Carville worked for the Democratic party long before he married Matalin, and vice-versa. Maybe it's hard to comprehend but people of opposing parties to date, fall in love, and mary, even if they are political operatives.

22. Carville is passionate.
He's VERY passionate. He believes what he says.

Have you read his books? Have you seen him debate/speak? He CARES. I don't understand how you can call him "disingenuous".

23. Unbelievable. Simply unbelievable...
...in the last twelve years I cannot think of anyone who has fought harder and with more grit for Democrats & Democratic causes than James Carville. But his love life didn't work out the way you think it should have, so he's fair game to be trashed. What a "progressive" way of reasoning...<snicker>...
It's these kinds of posts that give Karl Rove and his operatives a throbbing hummer. Keep up the good work. :eyes:
