The Republican National Convention in New York City and the Democratic National Convention in Boston demonstrated precisely the difference between the Conservative Right and the Liberal-Left.

It's a difference all those who believe in fair play should note and ponder deeply when they decide on either their political affiliation or for whom to vote.

In New York City, GOP delegates were greeted by howling mobs surging through the streets trying to disrupt this legitimate meeting and certainly disrupting the daily lives of city residents. The virulent and vicious scenes -- some orchestrated by propaganda movie maker Michael Moore -- were not the stuff of a civilized society.

Back in Boston, the DNC faced no organized protests. Delegates and residents were allowed to go about their business peacefully.

No parades by the Conservative Right with ugly signs or the shouting vulgar words at passersby.

The Liberal-Left -- whether in the U.S. or Canada -- likes to portray itself as 'tolerant.'

The truth is Liberals are tolerant only when you agree with their views. If you have another viewpoint, not only does the Liberal-Left believe it is wrong, it also believes you should not have the right to express that viewpoint. Not even in a free democratic society.

Liberals and socialists are smug and hypocritical.

SASKATOON - The president of B.C.'s Marijuana Party is going to prison. On Thursday, a judge in Saskatoon sentenced Marc Emery to three months in jail for trafficking.

Emery pleaded guilty to passing a single marijuana joint to someone else in a downtown park. He has ten other marijuana-related offences on his record and many are for trafficking in connection with his marijuana seed business.

In the past, Emery has only received a fine. But this time the judge said he is sending Emery to jail to teach him a lesson.

However I can't speak for Nunavut, New Brunswick, or the Northwest Territories. But I have met Yukoners who have spoken well of Alberta.
