In their current diseased state our Press and Media are incapable
of performing their jobs of telling the truth about our rulesr to the American people. The party in power holds the fate of the newspapers and the TV stations by withholding "access" to selected media if they offend those in power. The Media Barons let word trickle down to the man on the beat that certain topics are off limits. These poor beat reporters have no choice but to obey the unwritten and unseen edicts that permeate the culture.

This is the reason you can go from Maine to California and not find anything different in any of the newspapers or TV stations. This totalitarian mindset reminds one of Aldous Huxley's Brave New World. We lap up this pablum thinking we have been well informed.

In the end, our Press and Media are there to serve their masters and not the American public. They want to maintain current myths such as Mr.Bush is religious,he believes in Freedom, he is intent on defeating terrorism, his tax cuts are going to create jobs and prosperity and so on.They are also adept at creating new myths that inflate the persona of those in power. The end is to give us ordinary people reassurance that our country is in capable hands, that all is right with the world and we need not question anything.

The ignorance of fools like Elizabeth Bumiller,Todd Purdum, Richard Cohen,William Raspberry is only matched by their servility. They are like trained seals performing for their real masters while putting on a facade of independent reporting. We become losers in the process.

2. Yes..."the ignorance of fools." Media Whores who just don't get it...
Their days are "numbered" though. The Internet will take them down. It won't be soon enough...but it will. "Truth will always out lies." In the end...they won't get it and will be dinosaurs...

3. Have NO sympathy for any of these participants.
"These poor beat reporters have no choice but to obey the unwritten and unseen edicts that permeate the culture".

They have every choice in the world. If they choose to shove their morals aside for a job this is their problem. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see what is happening to our country. Everyone who goes along in any way with this process is the problem...not a victim!
