Can anyone picture Bush on a Harley? ROFL
I mean the macho cheerleader cannot even ride a bike. Aren't cowboys (apolotgis to real cowboys) supposed to have iron horse (motorcycles) since he is afraid of the real ones..? Can't you just see how long he would stay upright on a Hog? ROFL !

He rode one onstage to the Jay Leno Show last year. Shades of Clinton on Arsenio Hall!

18. Look, he fell off his bike twice (God Almighty) because
it's hard to hold on and steer with one hand, because he was holding a beer in the other one. That's what I think, anyway.

22. Actually, yes.
That is just the kind of shallow image-driven publicity stunt that would pass for political news these days, and would appeal particularly to the malformed self-image of the republican male. Also, the Harley biker image of rebellion is really now just a tired corporate marketing stereotype fed to rich yuppie weekenders. I think any individual's fascination with a corporate brandname as a solution to their identity crisis is tragic and lame.

BLITZER: Let's take another caller. Amanda, go ahead. You are on the air.

CALLER: My question is for Katherine Harris. Did you get the opportunity to speak with the Iraqi women and encourage them to follow your lead in going into public office so that they, too, could disenfranchise voters?

BLITZER: And Ellen Tauscher's lead as well. Go ahead

28. vetwife, you fight your own "war," relentlessly, every single day --
against war itself, against the personal toll that war takes, and against what is happening to our country under the Bush cabal. I'm proud to have served in the trenches with you in just one project you conceived and organized, the mighty CNN Blitz Day!

30. I don't know much about the "image."
I do know my ex, who bought the frame of a '60ish Harley in the late 70s and rebuilt it piece by piece, and is still riding it, has little patience with the rich yuppie harley riders who buy and ride as a status symbol. He's a mechanic, a pilot, and, yes, a cowboy, and he rides his Harley because he loves it. Growing up on a ranch, caring for 250 head of horses, as an adult he chose machines over horses. In his eyes, they are not nearly as demanding. He gives his Harley the same loving care he gave his horses.

That's one of the reasons we parted; he wanted to spend his life on motorcycles and airplanes, and I wanted to spend my life with my horses. We also were just not a good political match; he's much more conservative than I am. Still, he would not laugh at Kerry riding a Harley; he would figure anybody who could serve on a swift boat in 'nam could handle the hog. He would laugh at GWB on a hog; the same derisive laughter that he saves for the rich yuppie status seekers.

That's what makes the image funny; the contrast between the pretender and the "image" conveyed by a Harley. I don't think Vetwife was suggesting any solution to anyone's identity crisis; I think it was supposed to be funny. I also think she was drawing a comparison between Kerry and Bush. Kerry on a cycle of any kind is believable; we all know what happens when * gets on one.

The real question is, which do you want at the wheel of the WH next year?

:hi:

34. Actually, no I can't
I feel better about Kerry on a Harley because I ride one. It does take some skill and a certain level of concentration to keep one upright. I'm not sure Bush has that. I wouldn't even let Bush on the back of my bike.

it's unfortunate, but yes, i can 'see' bush on a Harley. no offense to true die hard Harley fans (and you know who you are), but (imho) Harley's have been coopted so much by the baby-boomer's that it would not shock me to see him or laura on one.

35. I don't get the joke.
Was he seen riding a Harley? Is this just theoretical? If so why? Please tell me we are not going to be so petty as to make up scenarios and then carry on with them. That seems a little desperate.

Kerry and Bush both fell of their mountain bikes. Lots of people fall off mountain bikes. That is part of the fun.

Jesus some of you are really pathetic. How bout stick to topics. We are not going to get Kerry elected by discussing mountain biking.

Incidentally real cowboys ride horses. Harleys are cliche. Every yuppie all across the US owns a Harley.

I am not serious all the time. Good Grief. We had a little fun on on here about Bush and Kerry riding Bikes. I could have just as easily said a Honda or Moped. Truth is, I can't even picture him on a rdiding mower. Anything with an engine would qualify and if Bush was at the handlebars, I would have 911 on standby. It was just a stab at his inability to walk and chew gum. Oh that was Ford wasn't it?

sort of a dumb image...chimpy flew fighter jets!

Of course, he carried a flask...not enough room to fit a six-pack...that's when he was there.

Actually the only time he probably flew for real was the "mission accomplshed" flight. Oh and on AirForce one.
