Which World Leader Creeps You Out The Most?
I've always thought that there was something amiss with Vladimir Putin. The guy's an ex-2nd (and later 1st) Chief Directorate guy from the old KGB, which doesn't exactly inspire confidence in me. Plus the reports I've seen say his crackdown on civil society (especially the independent media) aren't good. This article just adds to the concerns I have about the guy. Of course, depending on Yeltsin's liver to hold up wasn't a good strategy either.

Runner Up: Kim Jong-Il, but he's too obviously a nutjob

2. You mean besides Bush?
In any event, Putin always reminded me of one of those Russian renegade generals you'd see in a James Bond movie.

Psychotic totalitarians with Stalinist personality cults beat ex-KGB agents every time.

10. Kim Jong-il is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY overblown
I've been living in the shadow of North Korea for more than a decade and work in the city that is reputedly his prime target-- Tokyo. But I'm not afraid of him, because he's as overblown as Saddam was.

The guy's military consists of rustbuckets and bottle rockets. He has no verifiable way to deliver payload for more than a few dozen kilometers with any accuracy. He might be an idiot, but even HE knows he probably wouldn't even hit his intended target if he launched a first strike against Japan, and that he'd get his ass kicked to Kingdom Come if he tried anything so stupid.

Basically, he was a big nobody during the Clinton administration, but he has developed a symbiotic relationship with the bu$h regime. He gets to be a "world class" bogeyman and play tough guy at home, while the bu$h regime dangles him out in front of Japan and South Korea in a rather successful effort to sell more weapons systems.

5. Not even close...

Putin may or may not be slime, but he, himself, is not at fault for what happened in Beslan. A lot of articles like this are appearing that attempt to imply that. They border on being offensive, coming close to blaming the victims. *Nothing* justifies what happened there.

Giving a real answer to the question, I'd have to say Kim Jong-Il. That man is certifiable and probably has a nuclear arsenal he can use any time his little mind decides to do so. Shrub creeps me out, but not nearly on the same level. Actually, I'd probably put him and Putin in similar categories. They are both megalomaniacs and potential, if not actual, mass murderers, but they're not truly crazy, and their power is not so absolute.

7. Bush, Kim Jong ll, , in fact Bush and Kim Jong ll are very much alike
Edited on Mon Sep-06-04 04:02 AM by JI7
both got where they are because of their fathers. and both want to be worshipped as something more than just human, as if send by some higher power or a higher power itself. both cause suffering to others without though. both profit off of other people's misery. both are drunks. both have low intelligence levels.

and the biggest one is that both are cowards.

The prime minister of Norway. The only theocracy in the western world. No matter how we vote, he always seem to slide into the prime minister chair. His party's approval rating atm is around 5%!

20. Bush..unbelievably stupid. In real life he'd have a hard time being
a janitor. Arrogant, proudly ignorant, bigoted, sociopathic, and inept. And, that's the good part.

I thought it impossible to find a person as unfit for the job as Reagan was but, by crikey, the American people (with the aid of the courts and the DLC) were able to come across this half-witted goober.

Just watching the boob trying to talk would disqualify him from any job beyond potted plant, yet there he is "the most Powerful Man in the World."

Kim Jong-Il is such a nutcase (although, I will admit, a potentially dangerous one) that he is almost comical.
