NEW YORK
Former President Bill Clinton was moved to an operating room early Monday and doctors began preparing him for a heart bypass operation, a hospital source told The Associated Press.

Preparations began at about 6:45 a.m. in an operating room at New York Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia in upper Manhattan, said the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity. The operation was expected to last until noon or early afternoon.

The surgical team was being led by Dr. Craig R. Smith, chief of cardiothoracic surgery, the source said.

We're all with you, Mr. President.

2. Damn,they weren't kidding when they said he needed it done quickly..
Glad he had the sense to get to a doctor quickly instead of just wondering and waiting if his chest hurt from something he ate.

3. But it WAS something he ate....
all those Big Macs catch up with you eventually....

If I were a religious sort I'd say my prayers were with him, but I'll just send lots of good thoughts his way instead.

Good luck, Big Dog!

4. Looking at how much weight Clinton has lost in the last few years..
I'd say he kicked the Big Mac habit a long time ago,but the damage was done I guess.

I never really heard if Clinton was that big on Big Macs or any burgers or if that just came out of a SNL bit.

6. Takes about six hours!
I think he will do fine! The worst part is the waiting! Mr. Clinton was lucky he didn't have to wait a month, to get the doctor he wanted, to do the job! I was so glad to wake up and still be here on Earth! Even though I felt so damned bad, I was one happy camper, to awaken and find that I was not in a big assed hot fire, like I was half expecting, when they put me to sleep at 7:00 am that morning when I had my bypass!

My odds of survival was 85% six years ago, instead of the 99% the doctors are giving Bill Clinton now! The doctors have improved their skills so much, that the odds are far better today than they were ten years ago! The fact that Mr. Clinton did not have a heart attack, that damaged heart tissue, is a huge plus for him! I know he was scared shitless, because I've been there! I can't help but think that Mr. Clinton will do fine and I wish he and his family the very best!

I can tell you that president Clinton's very best frend will be his pillow for the next month!

A lie to confuse potential assassins, or something to do with the new overtime rules?

12. I'm not sure they said exactly -- maybe...
for one of the reasons you note.
