I REALLY like it here!

this place, DU, is one of the last bastions of truth and honesty.
a great place to find all the latest news and opinions, a fantastic place to read what people of all stripes think. invaluable as a source when the t.v. media has been swallowed up and spits out only white house propaganda. the internet, and particularly DU, are shining examples of real democracy at work.

i like ALL the threads. there has never been a thread that angered me so that i left for good. i enjoy ALL opinions, all ideas and notions with no censorship. there's no place like it on the web, no place i know. the creators of this site are modern versions of the founding fathers, and the first americans to have a free press. i have not one single complaint about DU.

all praises to the mods and the founding fathers of DU. call me a brown noser. 50,000 liberal keyboard jockeys can't be wrong!

I certainly get aggravated at individual posters at times, but this place has saved me at times from feeling like I am alone in thinking that things are just not right. Especially during those dark days when I was a 10 percenter.

9. I remember when I first found this place...March 2003

I can't even remember what I was looking for. Man, what a revelation to find so many people who thought like me (er, for the most part :P).

It took me almost a year to start posting...I had a lot of catching up to do!

Sometimes now I feel like I'm almost overloaded with info, or that the doom and gloom are going to overwhelm me, but I keep coming back.

10. I found this place in March 2003 too!

It was just as we were getting ready to go into Iraq and there was war fever everywhere. I was desperately looking for a place where there was some sanity, and where I could find other people who saw things the way I did.

I lurked for a long time as well.

I am addicted to this place, even (especially) when it drives me crazy.

If it weren't for LBN, I would have no idea what was going on in the world.

Mediums such as DU and the internet have little to do with "democracy at work".

They have everything to do the inability of outsiders to control or manipulate dialogue, correspondance, and free speech.

You will never see the sorts of discussion on crossfire, cspan, or fox news that you will see on the net. That's because neither the rightwing nor leftwing fascists can control cyberspace at this point.

The internet is anarchism, beautiful anarchism in all its glory.

And it is anarchy in some of its despondence as well.

I forget when I joined... it's been close to a year I think.

I do very basic PC maintenence for a lot of my friends and some of my wife's co-workers. I always set their homepage to DU. Just my way of spreading the word.

I've been here since there were only a hand-ful of members. I remember when we hit 5,000, and I thought it was SO KEWL that there were that many great folks around who understood what was being done to our country, and were trying to change the direction we were headed!

Every time an election comes around, we get more and more of the team from the dark side coming in to trash DU, trash good Dem candidates (or their wives!!!), and to try to push the progressive message out the door. The good news is, they finally leave or get tombstoned. We've seen it time and time again.

We just need to keep calling the disruptors on their bullshit! And keep doing our research, and spreading the word.

29. I like the fact that aholes get banned so that they don't disrupt

the exchange of ideas on this site and their messages don't stick around so that we are left to discuss issues left by a gone user.

plus its cool being in an underground community with over 50000 people...makes ya feel like you really ARE legitmate.

I can go to work and not feel scared with the repugs at work (some of them are ok, but others are beligerent and hateful). well, I still feel scared, but at least I don't feel alone. :)

30. I Must Really Like It Here

Been here for a very long time. Get most of my news here, great source for movies, music, recipes, and cried at the news that a DU member lost her husband. This is a nice place to be during these awful times

lost our sanity a couple of years ago. CHEERS to DU! We tell everyone we talk to to come here, (of course we qualify them first, freepers and protest warriors are discouraging)!

We found DU through BartCop and lurked for many months. Registered sometime in 2001, I think.
