Katty Kay of the BBC says American's are no longer dying in Iraq!
Did anyone watch the Chris Matthews show yesterday? Katty Kay of the BBC was a guest panalist on the show and said that Iraq was no longer on the frontpages because Americans are no longer getting killed. Where is she getting this information? 66 Americans were killed in August making it the fourth bloodiest month of the occupation. Not to mention the 1100 wounded during that same month. 15 soldiers have been killed in the first 6 days of September alone.

The worst thing about it was the fact that no one on the panel or the host Chris Matthews bothered to correct her, therefore implying that what she was saying was actually true. It's time we hold these so-called "experts" accountable for thier ignorance and their right-wing biases by emailing complaints to the show!

4. Disrespect
I emailed Matthews and said Kay's comment and his neglect to call her on it showed extreme disrespect toward the troops that are being killed almost every day in Iraq. I told his this demanded a corrective statement from him. I pointed out the seven that were killed today.

5. This is what she said...
They don't have the transcript up, so I got it from the Media Matters message board:

"When was Kerry doing better? He was doing better when there was bad news in Iraq, on the front pages of the papers, and that was because Americans were being killed. Well, there is still bad news in the papers, but it is not Americans being killed, so its not on the front pages of the papers and he is not doing so well."

13. She said that there is bad news coming out of Iraq...
Edited on Mon Sep-06-04 11:33 AM by Halliburton
but it's not Americans who are being killed. She was implying its either Iraqi's or foreign truck drivers that are being killed. A bloody August shows that American's are still being killed, so someone should point that out to her.

9. BBC generally does a better job; this is one lone reporter
They have Newsnight and Greg Palast. They do investigative journalism. Our so-called "journalists" parrot RW talking points coming from the White House.

10. The BBC has all points of view on their programs.
Their commentators a slightly anti-Bush.

Please do NOT compare the BBC to CNNFOX!

7. Incomplete sentence?
So many times on these shows the people interrupt one another so often that complete thoughts may not get expressed.

Maybe it was going to be that US troops are no longer being killed on the front pages of our newspapers and the six o'clock news or something to that effect.

If I recall correctly, the death rate is climbing. More people were killed in Iraq in August than in any previous month of the war.

I could be wrong on either or both statements.

11. I am sure she is trying to say that Americans are not getting killed
because our media is not reporting the deaths. No news. No deaths.

15. I saw that show. What a whorefest for Bush that was!
But Matthew's show usually is. I only watched it because, there was nothing, I mean nothing to watch at that time so I thought I'd give him another chance. It reminded me of why I don't watch him. I thought the same thing that you did, why isn't he challenging her to back up her remarks? No wonder the freepers believe all the shit that is said on TV. No one destroys their propaganda on air. I heard a media news representative whine that they wouldn't get any conservative guests if they did that. Cheerist! What would be so bad about that? Allowing the RW to spread propaganda like that is not a "fair and balanced" approach IMHO.
