Joe Lockhart chides Judy Woodruff on Republican rhetoric
Edited on Mon Sep-06-04 02:54 PM by plastic_turkeys
Judy keeps trying to insistently hammer Joe with "Kerry said he'd vote for Iraq all over knowing what he knows..."

Lockhart comes back with "No, no, no, no, you have to be careful about what he SAID and wahat Republicans SAY he said."

I think hiring Joe is a wonderful thing for this campaign.

Oops on edit, sorry, posted on wrong board. Will repost on Campaign board, sorry mods.

1. Somebody has to clear up the Republican lies.
Obviously, media talking heads repeating the lies is no way to get the truth out.

4. It IS an excellent line.
I haven't watched CNN for quite a while, he caught my eye while channel surfing. Joe always says it how it is without sounding like a typical talking head.

6. And Dean told Blitzer he sounded like a Republican.
It is a good way to talk to them. It is true.

10. Absolutely. They need to be put on notice and OUTED when
they spew RNC talking points. They should actually say to these "interviewers"...blah blah blah...I know that those talking points are on the RNC website, but they are nevertheless untrue. Sooner or later the media whores will get the message.

27. well...
Kerry voted to give the president the authorization to go to war because he believes that's a responsibility the president should have. The press and the right claim that Kerry voted for the war, without saying that he only voted for the president to have the choice.

8. Thanks for posting this terrific news
What Lockhart did today is hopefully the beginning of something new: Setting the record straight in an effective, strong way, with the media. I hope Kerry people show up on these supposed "news" programs with the same strong message, stacks of documentation and charts-- whatever it takes. Facts are on Kerry's side. The job now is to expose the * BS.

12. Yes!!!! Lockeart understands THE KEY: calling the whores real time/on air.
WoooooooHoooooo!!!!!! Lockheart GETS it!!! Will other Dem surrogates and Kerry spokespeople do what they need to do? Sadly, I doubt it highly since so many are grateful to Judy and wolf for the opportunity to hear their own voices on the idiot box, but it sure is good to see somebody shaming the shills.

We accidentally heard Cahill doing it off camera, but you gotta do it so all the viewers can see. Right to their faces.

Forgive my unbridled enthusiasm but the bottom line is this: Along with contacting sponsors, calling the TV whores on their bias on the air is the ONLY chance we have to diminish the cable whoring before the election.

Are you kidding? Lockhart is a breath of fresh air, and I want him training all the surrogates that go on TV from now on, as another DUer so wisely suggested!

25. Could NOT agree more
These whores have to be publicly humiliated and called on their bias. They don't respond to ANYTHING -- not a sense of fairness or professionalism or even morality -- unless they are PERSONALLY affected.
Despite the hideously awful and destructive job they've done over the past few years, they still continue to hold award shows for themselve and pat themselves on the back for the great job they all do.
They need to know we are on to them, and not taking it anymore.
Thank GOD Lockhart gets it, and Dean gets it.
Now, can the rest of the Dem spokespeople get it?

14. Here is the CNN transcript where Dean called out Blitzer.
They have got to keep doing this. I like the way they are speaking out now, and I like what Kerry said about Iraq today.

http://www.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0408/29/le.00.html
SNIP..."BLITZER: The last time, Governor, you were on "LATE EDITION," you made a commotion, you made a lot of news by pointing out -- that was the same day that Tom Ridge, the secretary for homeland security, raised the threat level in parts of New York, New Jersey, Washington, D.C., amid terror reports. And you suggested, at least partially, politics was behind that.

I wonder if you've had a chance to rethink those controversial words since then.

DEAN: Yes, I think it's very likely. Now it seems, given the past events, that it's extremely likely that politics have something to do with it.

We now know that the president has broken the law. The president's campaign had two of its members working in cahoots with this Swift Boat ad, which turned out not to be true.

Whether the president of the United States told us the truth when we went to Iraq, whether the president of the United States told us the truth when his people put an ad on television that wasn't true, questioning John Kerry's service.

The president gets to have it both ways. He says, "Oh, no, we don't question John Kerry's service"; his own people are in cahoots with the people who put those lies on television. This is a president whose word is no good. At least many Americans believe that, including me...."

SNIP..."Because, as you well know, Governor, if you take a look on the Democratic side, there are a lot of Democratic Party activists who are intimately involved in those same MoveOn.org or advocacy 527 groups, as well.

DEAN: Well, now, Wolf, you sound like the Republicans. Their defense is, "Oh, the Democrats are doing it too." The truth is that there's a firewall that you're -- those groups are not allowed to talk to John Kerry or his campaign, and they haven't...."

SNIP..."DEAN: I'm sick of this. I think the American people are sick of it. We need a new president, and I'm hoping we'll get one after November...."

16. He accuses media of not covering Abu Graib.
BLITZER: We're all out of time, but one quick follow-up, Governor. When you said earlier that politics were partially behind the terror alert, raising of that level, and you pointed to the fact there hasn't been any terrorism since then, is that really what you meant to say?

DEAN: I didn't say that. What I said was, it appears from the political goings-on that there was very much of a connection. Secretary Ridge himself went out to lavishly praise the president during his announcement. Several newspapers have looked at this, including The New York Times and The Washington Post.

I might add, I'm surprised there hasn't been more play with The New York Times story this morning, or yesterday, that showed that the Abu Ghraib scandals may well reach into Secretary Rumsfeld's office.

What is going on in this administration? How come you guys aren't paying more attention to it?..."

Thank you SO much for posting this transcript, I don't watch CNN anymore and would have missed it. Delicious!

(I love how Blitzer says "we're all out of time but one quick question".....tries to sneak in his meme again and dean turns it around to question the media.)

20. Thanks for posting Joe's comments.
Of all the shills Judy Woodruff is the worst. I even put her ahead of Candy Crowley. There is no attempt at impartiality on her part, and she can be downright nasty.

I hope this is the beginning of calling them all on their words and their parroting of the RNC talking points. Go Joe!
