1. Not that this is in any way answering your question
But what does the House of Saud have to do with Taiwan?

3. Wow...
So do most right-wing parties in North America, Asia, and Europe.

The only I know of that doesn't is the Conservative Party of Canada. (About the only think good about those racist louts.)

6. I think you have that backwards
Right wing parties are quite ready to send you to die for Taiwan independence, even though most Taiwanese are heavily invested in China.

Chiang Kai Shek is dead, China is holding the Olympics and trading with the world, time to stop pretending.

4. I do, quite strongly.
I honestly believe that there is only one China and that Taiwan is a part of China. This is a matter for the people of China to resolve though, ultimately. I also oppose any unilateral movements to change that status. The neo-conservatives would love to overthrow the Communist Party of China, but they are otherwise preoccupied. Pre-9/11, they were China-fixated or North Korea-fixated. Big business does like access to Chinese markets, but don't believe for a minute that the neo-con ideologues are friendly toward the PRC.

9. One China?
maybe but it doesn't include Tibet? Xinjiang? seems odd to support the liberation of Tibet et al but to support the Chinese taking Taiwan back.

I don't think anyone should be forced to be part of something they don't want to be part of, if a significant proportion of Taiwanese don't want to be part of China (and I wouldn't have a clue eitehr way) they shouldn't have to.

5. Taiwan is part of China.
In 20 years, they'll be assimilated by Mainland China's economy, anyway. Native Taiwanese aren't particularly happy with the Nationalists who fled to Taiwan and pretty much appropriated their property and culture as their own.

7. Not me.
As I understand things, Taiwan no longer pretends to be the seat of legitimate power on the mainland. They want self determination, and it seems to me they have that right .... having developed their society independently of the mainland for decades. Culturally, the two are quite distinct, tho as someone pointed out here the Nationalists kinda took over the property and culture of the Taiwanese.

The Nationalists are essentially no more. The invaders have been assimilated. It is clear most of the people want to be their own nation. This, at least, is my understanding of the case.

BTW, have I ever mentioned I do not trust the Chinese? Bush talks about mass graves in Iraq ... how 'bout them Tibetans???!!!??

And right now the Chinese mass intermediate range missiles against an island nation of free people who want to go their own way. Communists are just neocons picking a different song on their fascist banjoes. (Translation: The trimmings of ideology are different but the goals largely the same ... the establishment of absolute power over a subject populace.)

8. Yep...
...and the long history of that region of the world has nothing to do with "the GOP-CCP-Saud Family Axis of Evil".
