Mass Mind Control is just so Easy to do, & so very effective
i am just flat out amazed and in awe of the way that millions of people can be made to believe the most preposterous notions. that bush was elected for instance, or that he's a smart guy, or that he's decisive and in charge. how can anyone with an average i.q. fall for this ridiculous crap?

how can anyone who can drive a car and chew gum at the same time not see that saddam was never a threat to us, saddam had nothing to do with al qaeda or osama, or that all arab muslims hate us for our freedom? how stupid does one have to be to believe the official story about 9-11? box cutters? excuse me?

it is just so easy to do too. a simple repeating of buzzwords, and control of certain talk show hosts on t.v. and radio and print, and millions of americans can be sold on the most absurdly unbelievable things. it's downright scary how easy it is.

we think of the propaganda masters as evil geniuses, but they're not. they've just figured out how stupid most folks are, and are taking full advantage of it. it's not a complicated or magic trick, it's an old trick, that's been used all through human history. lies, misinformation, cover ups, spins, obfuscations, and mantras. repeat the lies until they are accepted and believed.

it is literally, a simple form of hypnosis, automatic suggestion, or whatever. until people learn how to think objectively and clearly and logically, this will be our fate as a nation. led around like livestock with rings in our noses, fattened up, made content, and fed a steady diet of lies and myths, then, ultimately processed and exploited for votes and cash and forgotten.

1. Amurikans need to turn off the teevee. Keeping in mind these are the same
folks that think a fella walked on water.

People are trained to not think for themselves... They think in the 12 second sound bytes they're programmed to on the teevee disinfo channels.

5. I think you are on to something.
I haven't watched TV news in years. Only recently, after years of de-programming, can my husband watch it and notice the lies. Once your eyes are opened--you see the manipulation. I honestly believe there is a bunch of subliminal programming going on--and not just during commercials.

It was the perfect setup. We were conditioned to watch the news; we didn't notice the beginning of the lies and slowly the lies get bigger.

TURN OFF THE TV!

to make people buy stuff is already well established. It is not very hard to use it for propaganda also.

8. Hate and fear is the button
I have often observed that the tactics being used by the RW is that of what Orwell described in his work dealing with the book 1984. If you have a permanent war you have a permanent enemy, and if the hatred and fear of that enemy is reinforced daily you have people by the gonads and you can lead them anywhere.
But I think you are being to hard on people by just assuming that they are just dumb. There are a large number in this country convinced that it is all fixed anyhow and there is no use to participate in the democracy.
And there are many who are just so involved with there own life and dealing with all the shit that happens, that they pay no attention to what is happing outside there own life. Life in these times, With all of it's complexities, can be overwhelming to many.
The only answer to a lie is the truth. But truth is justified by riotousness, in that the morality of telling a lie is never challenged by the media, instead they present it as "the other side to this story" They feel less commitment to the truth and more fear of lousing there high paying job.
We need morality on our side. We need to wake the progressive preachers and other moral authorities and get them to speak for us , like the RW does with Pat Robertson.

10. Maybe this guy has it figured out.
Dr. Norman Livergood, former head of the Dept. of Artificial Intelligence at the US Army War College:

In an earlier article, I reviewed the varied aspects of personality profiling and simulation. While serving as Head of the Artificial Intelligence Department at the U.S. Army War College, 1993-1995, I conducted studies on profiling, psychological programming, and brainwashing. I explored and developed personality simulation systems, an advanced technology used in military war games, FBI profiling, political campaigning, and advertising. Part of my discovery was that:

* unenlightened human minds are combinations of infantile beliefs and emotional patterns

* these patterns can be simulated in profiling systems

* these profiling systems can be used to program and control people

Personality simulation systems are being used to create political campaigns that apply voter profiles to control their voting behavior. TV commercials and programs use personality simulation to profile viewers to control their purchasing and viewing behaviors. And sophisticated propaganda and brainwashing techniques are being used by the Bush junta to keep American citizens under control.
(my emphasis /jc)

Quote from Brainwashing America by Dr. Norman Livergood.

11. Brainwashing is more effective when the target is willing to believe
the suggestions you make.At our core, we are a nation of conmen, cheaters and liars who talk big about our belief in the Ten Commandments, say our women are all virgins and we believe in the Gary Cooper version of the man in the white hat, our leaders are virtuous and so on.But this is a nation that loves winning at any cost as witnessed at the Olympics where a gymnast, knowing fully well he did not win the gold medla refuses to give it up.We lie to cut corners to gain an edge. We will knock up a gullible girl and run clear across the country to avoid payments for child support. We will welsh on a deal, squeal on a colleague, cheat on our husbands/wives
to gain an instant high.

To me it is not a surprise at all we actually admire Bush because he can get away with things we wish we could get away with too.

15. Well, I disagree on the gymnast
If the other guy had gotten a higher score, the American would have known he had to do more to win. It's an impossible situation to second guess.

Otherwise, you're right. My current favorite. My daughter's car was wrecked. A wrecked car is worth less. The insurance company ought to have to make up the difference in value. Guess what we get told? You don't HAVE to tell anybody the car was wrecked when you sell it so you shouldn't lose any money on it. Okay, so when you commit a fraud on an insurance company it's a criminal case but when you commit a fraud on your neighbor because the insurance company won't compensate you fairly, it's buyer beware. Ethics are totally screwed up because of "shrewd" businessmen, that's the problem.

13. Research - How Democracy Was Subverted in Peru
From:
http://www.gsb.stanford.edu/news/research/polecon_peru.shtml

"What they found was a stunningly bold and effective effort to circumvent three institutions key to maintaining democracy in Peru: the judiciary, the legislature, and the media. 'Montesinos and Fujimori maintained the façade of democracy—the citizens voted, judges decided, the media reported—but they drained its substance,' McMillan and Zoido wrote. What's more, by analyzing the size of the bribes, they demonstrate that the media, or more specifically, television, has become the most forceful of the checks and balances that underpin constitutional government."

Edited on Wed Sep-08-04 01:47 AM by Luminous Animal
I saw a great documentary tonight titled HIJACKING CATASTROPHE (friends of mine are distributing it to theatres and gave me a copy). It gives an excellent overview of the Project for the New American Century ... its history, its goals, and insight into the propaganda employed in forwarding those goals. Narrated by Julian Bond it includes interviews with a lot of familiar and welcome people... Scott Ritter, Norm Soloman, Medea Benjamin, Noam Chomsky, Norman Mailer, Lt. Col. Karen Kwiatkowski, Michael Franti and many others. It is an excellent companion to F9/11 in that it supplies the understory to the broad themes that Mike portrayed. I highly recommend this film. It is great on revealing the psychological warfare that is being perpetrated against us.

Here is a schedule of it's upcoming showings. (If anyone would like to see this film in their town and has the ability to get it shown, please send me a message and I can get you in touch with the distributers.)

19. "Why, of course people don't want war."
"Why should some poor slob on a farm want to risk his life in a war when the best he can get out of it is to come back to his farm in one piece? Naturally the common people don't want war; neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany.

"That is understood.

"But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along - whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders.

"That is easy.

"All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger.

"It works the same in any country."

- Reichmarshall Hermann Goering
