Wow. CNN's iraq headline changes by the hour...
An hour ago I went to CNN.com and the headline was "12 US troops killed since Monday". Just went back on there and it now reads 13.

2. And the total is...
...999, according to www.icasualties.org.

We'll see a "One Thousandth US Casualty" headline before too long.

5. Bet the repukes are breathing a HUGE sigh of relief that that
headline wasn't last week. Frickin' cowards that they are.

4. "more help there"?
Seems like the Iraqis are demonstrating in a graphic way that they have had quite enough "help" from foreigners, thank you.

6. As soon as it hits 1000, be prepared for this:
"You liberals are HAPPY that the death toll has reached 1000!"

And they're going to say that just because we raise hell about it, just because we use it as a further reason why Bush should go.

But WTF do you think we've been saying since before the war started?!? We're just as mad as ever and madder with every single American death!

One American death, or one civilian death in Iraq, is too many in the name of a war started at our discretion for reasons that we all know now to be false.

And once and for all, stop repeating the lie that we "all" thought that Iraq was a threat or had WMDs! The HELL we did!!! (read http://www.inthesetimes.com/site/main/article/they_knew_0802/ for a decent synopsis, although it's obvious to those of us who were paying attention at the time).

Many many people and nations knew that Iraq was not a threat. Their neighbors knew (none took part in the "coalition"). The U.N. knew (read the Inspectors' reports before the war). Europe knew (read the statements from most major European countries before the war, after the U.N. went in). Most of the goddamned world knew that Iraq was no threat (millions in the streets). Hell, even I KNEW!! Anyone who read beyond the headlines and the White House press releases (basically the same thing at the time) knew!!

This is a milestone, and it merits attention for this simple reason: One death was too many for this war. 1000 deaths is a thousand times too many!!!
