1. tell-all biographer
She has written about the English Royal Family, Nancy Reagan, Liz Taylor...among others.

She doggedly pursues and befriends contacts about her subjects. She does thorough research and has yet to be successfully sued by any of her subjects.

She is not beyond getting the real dirt out and feels very comfortable with the tabloid stories lurking in some folks lives.

I'm sure you will hear about sex, drugs, homosexuality, betrayal and more in this new book. It's too bad it's about the entire Bush clan so only a portion will be devoted to Georgie. It will be interesting though to get all the dirt out there.

Prepare yourself to shower after reading

2. The thing is, if the dirt weren't there, Kelley wouldn't have bothered
She is non-partisan in her trashing. She digs up dirt and writes books in order to make money and feel a sense of power, I guess.

Kitty Kelley is like a professional housebreaker. She only bothers with wealthy marks full of loot with a high resale value.

She chose the Bushes for her latest foray because the Bushes are dirty.

5. Some Links, Including a HITCHENS

Kitty Kelley is an internationally acclaimed writer whose last book, Nancy Reagan: The Unauthorized Biography, sold faster than any biography in publishing history. Before that her book about Frank Sinatra, His Way, set another publishing record as the biggest-selling biography. Jackie Oh! and Elizabeth Taylor: The Last Star were also international bestsellers. Kelley, who has been honored by her peers, received the Outstanding Authors Award from the American Society of Journalists and Independent Writers for "her outstanding service to writers and the writing profession." She was presented with the Medal of Merit from the Lotus Club of New York City. In 1993 Brandeis University National Women's Committee established a major book collection in her honor. She lives in Washington, D.C., with her husband.

HITCHENS: http://www.salon.com/sept97/royalsb970917.html

.... First off, contrary to alarums in certain quarters, few hearts will stop beating as a result of Kelley's 502-page efforts. "The Royals," for the most part, is a compendium of all the critical material already out there on the House of Windsor. If nothing else, it means you can purge your shelves of a lot of junk books that have been published, without any apparent trouble from the majesty of the law, in the past few years.

How reliable is it? Kelley names her sources when she can, conceals their identity where she feels necessary, passes on some rumors and scotches some others. Writing from an American perspective, Kelley is chiefly amused at the absurd British national desire for a fairy-tale monarchy that is, at the same time, made up of people "just like us, really." ....

AUTHOR KITTY KELLEY PREPARES 'COUP DE GRACE' FOR GEORGE BUSH DYNASTY
by Mr. Pepys Monday May 17, 2004 at 12:18 PM

.... She is a fastidious fact-checker with an unrivaled knack for zingers such as stories of coathanger abortions. ....

Kitty Kelly books hit the best-seller lists at Number One and go on to sell over a million hard copies each (the last three books). They make news for months and years after release. I can hardly wait to plop down $30 to finally plumb the deep, dark depths of the Bushes. This book has made news even before release and probably has Karl Rove's head swimming with spins, and Dubya's grandfather, the notorious graverobber Prescott Bush, spinning in his grave. ....

NEW YORK - - Republican insiders have been huddling in small groups at the Republican Convention this week and talking about what worries them most. It is not John Kerry. It is not the unemployment numbers. It is not Iraq.

It is Kitty Kelley. ....

Kelley’s 1991 book on Nancy Reagan, for example, which contained scandalous accusations, was the subject of a front page story in the New York Times by Maureen Dowd.

“Ms. Kelley has developed a reputation as a giant killer for her sensational books about the rich and famous,” Dowd wrote. “She wrote that Jacqueline Kennedy had shock treatments; that President John F. Kennedy's retarded sister, Rosemary, had a lobotomy, and that Frank Sinatra's mother was a New Jersey abortionist.” ....

The article quoted Sheila Tate, Nancy Reagan's former press secretary, as saying that "no friend of Nancy Reagan's is going to read that scummy book."

Perhaps, but plenty of other people did read it and many more read about it. And this, remember, was in an era before 24-hour cable TV and media with an insatiable appetite for news, gossip, rumor, innuendo or whatever they can get.

It may turn out, of course, that Kelley’s new book contains nothing damaging to President Bush. ....

6. She spent five years writing this thing
Edited on Tue Sep-07-04 10:42 PM by RatTerrier
I remember hearing some mention of it back around 2000 or so. I didn't hear much about it again until a few months ago, so I figured the Bush clan either paid her off or threatened her.

But I guess she held out for some juicy information. She's got Sharon Bush (Neil's recently estranged and very pissed off wife) on board, and has interviewed classmates, people who served in the National Guard with Dumbya, and others). Trust me, this book will be brutal, and will get more press than any Bush book that has come out in the last few years.

I remember when the Nancy Reagan book came out. It was talked about nearly non-stop for weeks. Her Royal Family book is banned in the UK. Sinatra tried to suppress the bio she did on him. 'Doonesbury' even did a serial parody of it. And the Kennedys were not too pleased with "Jackie Oh!". All got big-time press. I'm thinking the infotainment industry is backed against the wall on this one - they'll have to cover it.

Trust me, you'll be hearing much about this book.

7. CSPAN mentioned it this morning, IMUS too

CSPAN mentioned the cocaine at Camp David item I believe.
A Rethug lady called in saying that that book shouldn't be mentioned.
Blonde reporter said something like,"it was in the News."

I can see it is going to go crazy next week.

IMO, that's what all this calling Kerry a "girlie -man is about.
They are trying to pin that label on him befote Kelly lays it on the line about Cokehead From Crawford.

It should be, in Poppy's words... "compelling"
