They printed my LTTE.
It was in yesterday's paper, but I didn't see it yesterday because I was on a news break.

There is something I am having a great deal of difficulty understanding as we move closer to this Presidential election. What I cannot understand are those who say they support George Bush because he is "such a good Christian."

I know what he claims, but what is it that he has done in the last three and a half years that shows what a good Christian he is?

Was it his putting tax breaks for the rich above needs of the poor? Was it the lies told to get us into a preemptive war? Was it the callous attacks against anyone who dared to disagree with him? Was it when he called the death of almost three thousand Americans his "trifecta"? Or was it, maybe, his putting corporate greed before protection of the environment?

I am not a Biblical scholar, but I do believe in the teachings of Christ. My understanding has always been that Christ taught that our actions of compassion showed our true heart, not our words.

3. I thought about including some Biblical quotes,
but decided I did not want to play there game of picking quotes just to prove my point. I think you to look at the teachings of Jesus as a whole.

7. I am not a Biblical scholar, but I do believe in the teachings of Christ.
Hypocrites come in all shapes and sizes. They come from every state. They have a multitude of agendas. Some of them believe they are chosen by God to do their assorted deeds. Many of them are in for a rude awakening.

6. I get the impression that what some people get out of the teachings
of Christ is that you can pretty much do whatever you want as long as you ask forgiveness later. Now, I'm an atheist but I was raised in a Christian family. I am amazed at the things I see so-called Christians say and do but "God loves sinners" so it's okay in the end. They can sin their entire lives but as long as they repent before they die, they'll get into heaven. I, on the other hand, could lead a "sin-free" life and still be doomed to hell because I don't believe in God.

I'm not saying this is all Christians' views -- just what I've observed from some of them around me.

10. There's a saying that goes something like,
We judge ourselves by our intentions, and other people by their actions.

The Christians I know seem to live by the belief, "If you sin, you're going to hell. But if I sin, I'm going to Heaven because God knows I had good intentions."

8. Born-again wipes your sins clean....crap
Born-again is somewhere in the bible...how it relates to all Christians, I don't know and I'd rather be a good person, believe in science, than to be a confused christian believing in witchery.

Born-again is a political movement created in the US. The Pentecostal religion was born in the US, a religion which caused their followers to separate from the sins of the world, in turn, separate and isolate themselves from all people who did not accept the Pentecostal concept of religion. The Pentecostal cult failed. They could no longer keep themselves isolated and without political voice. They came up with this born-again concept to show that they were still 'different and possessed higher powers.' The Pentecostals joined the christian political sinners but 'we are not sinners.'

The born-again witchery spread throughout all christian denominations, even into the Catholic religion. I belong to a large Catholic church and it has a huge born-again branch. Most of the members were displaced Pentecostals, and the Catholic church allows them to practice their form of Pentecostal rituals which are totally different from the Catholic religion. They hold seminars of 'speaking in tongues'...etc. The only thing the church does not allow is for them to speak in tongues during mass. They will frighten the congregation of non-tongue believers.

Many catholics will not attend my church. They find it too Pentecostal. They find my priest too much like a politician who got away from the Catholic traditions. My priest loves this new born-again concept in the catholic church. The church is filled to capacity when other traditional churches are empty. It's the MONEY baby!

9. Bush makes religion...
What's the best way to say it? He's turned religion into a namebrand that all the "cool kids" wear. It's just another excuse to ostracize some people. It's like a high - they're high on holy, righteous wrath. And if you're not high on holy, righteous wrath, then you get their holy, righteous wrath directed at you.

It's better to "just be cool" and wear the namebrand. It's easier to "just be cool", to fit in, especially if you're weak-minded and know it and are ashamed of it. It feels good to direct hatred for yourself outward to someone who doesn't "fit in".

I think those Germans who hated the Jews would recognize the feeling.

11. Nicely done
Very good compendium of the unchristian things Stupidhead has done, and I agree with your decision not to cite the Bible. The "My understanding" last sentence takes the argument out of who can "proof text" what action, and makes the statement your own.
