Testimonials?

I think it would be cool to hear from people here who were formally politically apathetic, who have since become politically more aware and active specifically because of the Bush admin. :)

1. I always voted, but
I never read blogs, DU, internet news sites or watched TV news as much as I do now. I also never donated to a political campaign--$100.00 for K/E. Bush* absolutely is destroying the country I grew up in; the one I learned about in history and civics classes. He's made me ashamed of our government, and he's made me realize just how fragile a thing democracy can be.

3. me too
I spent Election night 2000 with a bottle of whiskey, swearing to my chihuahua that we were moving to Canada. I should have. I think that was my coming out. I've since donated to 5 different groups supporting Kerry, volunteered at two rallies, attended 5 Kerry events and now will profess my devotion to you, DU, and your loyal contributors. I am officially a junkie-for-good.

2. Well, I've never been apathetic
I've always voted but like the previous poster, I'm much more pro-active since 2000. This year is the first time I've EVER, in my 43 years, put a political bumper sticker on my car. I have a Kerry/Edwards sticker and my DU sticker. I don't even care about the paint job!

4. I consider it the only good thing Bush accomplished
lol. I always voted, and with the exception of voting for Al Gore, it was for republicans. Never really took notice of the world around me until Bush. Now I read anything I can get my hands on, carry voter registrations around with me (in my DU bag with lots of pins on it, so I can make sure the "left" people are getting registered! lol, so far only 6 though), and try to attend any events, rallies, and protests in the Tampa area. I didn't realize what a lefty I really was, and laugh my ass off when people say Kerry is too liberal, as I think he is not liberal enough (he has my vote though!). I plan on voting Dem strait down the line from now on.
