Just sent an Email to my undecided Dad.
He wrote to me:

' Joe

I decided to take you advice an check out Move.Com
I was expecting to find out reasons why this UNDECIDED voter should vote
for John Kerry.
The first message I read compared George Bush to Adolph Hitler. I could
not this believe that this was published.
Then I thought must be a far-left site. I did read a few more messages
one was from a Republican, and finally there was one
that disagreed with the comparison to Hitler pointing out how close the
election was and this did nothing to help the Kerry cause.
Hopefully this writer was a Democrat.
I found nothing on this site on why I should vote for Kerry except that
he wasn't Bush. Just people venting their anger.
No positions on the economy, jobs, everyone is for them. How is he going
to create them? What is Kerry's vision for the future? Nothing
on why John Kerry is qualified to be our President, except that he is
not George Bush.
Hopefully you know of a site that is for people that are undecided, that
gives the positions of your candidate. Not another Bush-bashing
site please!

Dad'

This is what I wrote back

Dad,

Just got your email. Here is what John Kerry plans to do about the economy:

http://www.johnkerry.com/issues/economy/

And here is what George Bush has planned:

http://www.georgewbush.com/Agenda/Chapter.aspx?ID=1

"The essential elements of his plan include: taking the next bold steps in reforming education;"
Hmmm...Like the 'No Child Left Behind' act he poorly funded?(http://www.house.gov/appropriations_democrats/caughtonfilm.htm)
Don't believe me yet? Try this one: http://story.news.yahoo.com/newstmpl=story&cid=578&ncid=578&e=5&u=/nm/20040907/ts_nm/economy_schools_dc)

"building a skilled and effective workforce"
Hmmm...Like the Even Start program he poorly funded?(http://www.house.gov/appropriations_democrats/caughtonfilm.htm. )

"encouraging a pro-growth, fair, and simpler tax system"
Hmmm...Like the one that is going to increase the defecit to 2.29 TRILLION dollars over the next ten years? (http://money.cnn.com/2004/09/07/news/economy/congress_deficit.reut/index.htm?cnn=yes)

"promoting research and development in both the public and private sectors,"
Hmmm...Like stem cell research, which may lead to cures for many malicious diseases? http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/medicalnews.php?newsid=12814

"opening markets for American goods around the globe,"
Hmmm...Like what goods exactly? Halliburton? No, can't be. They're based in the Cayman Islands. Oh, I know what he means by American goods, American jobs! (http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=2026&e=2&u=/latimests/officeoftomorrowhasanaddressinindia)

"meeting our energy needs and lessening our energy dependence"
Hmmm...Like when Cheney had secret energy meetings with Ken Lay? Well, it didn't work. We're more dependent on oil than ever( http://news.ft.com/cms/s/45f89208-0105-11d9-9d96-00000e2511c8.html) and unfortunately, Bush wants to drill in ANWR. Kerry wants to drill in New Mexico. The difference? Read this: http://www.abqjournal.com/elex/218751elex09-06-04.htm

"reducing the regulatory burden"
WHAT?! What regulations hasn't he reduced? The ones for arsenic in water you drink?! The ones for mercury in the water you drink?! The ones for lead in the water you drink and air you breathe?! http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/04240/368553.stm That's Pennsylvania, Dad. Just up the river from Cincinnati. And guess what is in that river...

"reforming Government to be smaller and more efficient, responsive, and effective."
WHAT?! The Patriot Act sound familiar? It expanded the powers of government, remember. Drastically. And the Patriot Act II? Lucky for us and the fourth amendment it wasn't passed. So it isn't smaller.

More efficient? How come nobody knew about Abu Ghraib while it was taking place?

More Responsive? Like when air port security personnel searched Al Gore and Ted Kennedy at a terminal?

More Effective? He hasn't been effective at capturing Osama, creating jobs, managing the economy, budgeting our government (http://www.nytimes.com/2004/09/07/national/07CND-DEFI.htmlex=1095220800&en=843040aae2a7b396&ei=5006&partner=ALTAVISTA1), protecting American jobs, encouraging science, and uniting Americans.

!!!!!!!!HE COULDN'T EVEN ATTACK THE RIGHT COUNTRY!!!!!!!!!!

Please,Dad, don't tell me you're still undecided.

1. Orion, could you PLEASE post your reply to your father in plain text?
Instead of HTML? For some reason, DU chops off the URLS when
you post in HTML, so if anyone copies this and pastes it, the
links won't work.

If you repost it, check the box on the top of the blue box
before you post that says "post in plain text."
Then people can copy your post and the links will work.

I ask this, because your response to your father was AWESOME
and I would like to use some of these arguments with people I
know.

Please keep us updated on your father's decision. :-)

9. No, you have to convert the e-mail itself to plaintext
The URLs still have the elipses. (...)

2. Bush bashing sites? Hello? There's nothing but Kerry distortions
out there from talk radio and cable news. Your father is just pontificating those talking radio heads. I hope his ignorance to the truth doesn't put a wedge in your relationship with him.

7. Also, if anybody has any other stuff that destroys Bush, please feel free
to give it to me. This guy is far to the right(he claims to be a moderate, BS) but he is smart enough to see through Bush, but doesn't like Kerry's liberalism.

11. I think being anti- liberal is anti- American.
The Constitution is a liberal document. And I'm taking the word back. True Americans are liberals. Now, we do have some differences about how to achieve our ideals, and that is not a bad thing. But George&Co are anti-liberal and anti-American.

13. move.com?
did he meant moveon.com, because there's notthing about hitler on it, so sorry to say he never look at the site. I guess it's sad to have your father lie to you. He should admit he just didn't want to go to the site and read.

You should tell him not to believe rw radio about what is on a site before lying to you about reading that site.
