What passes for journalism these days?
Although I give CBS credit for breaking the new documents the "q and a" with Dan Bartlett was just that...a "q and a"
Rather asked Bartlett how Bunnypants got into the guard and Bartlett gave some bullshit answer. THE END. I was on my feet screaming! It's well known that Bunnypants scores were WELL below people that did not get into the guard....why in the hell would Rather not ask about this? Christ, is EVERYONE in their pockets?

1. Yes, everyone is in their pockets
I also give Dan Rather and CBS credit, as they have shown some signs of helping efforts to stop the junta. But the rest are whores, plain and simple. Even Lou Dobbs fell into line on this story. He covered the bare minimum of the story, had some repo-slime call it lies, and then said he'd had enough and he wasn't going to cover it any more.

That's nice. Now, maybe Lou Dobbs didn't cover the Smearboat story, I don't know. If he didn't, then not covering this one is fair. But if he helped boost a $200,000 ad buy into a 3-week major story, it's not ethical to now say, "oh, we're done."

Even Olberman sounded very condescending about it. I turned him off after his "o-christ more of this shit" introduction, after which he turned to the Wall Street Journal to cover the story.

They are whores. Some of them show a kinder and gentler face of fascism, but we are not free when the media chooses our presidents and wars for us.

2. I agree, it's ridiculous
When that talking head said, "Bush talked to his commanding officer" I wanted them to ask, "When? Is there documentation of that? Or is it just his say so?" No probing questions, no pushing for the real story. The media asked tougher questions of Michael Moore in regards to F-911 than they ever do of the Repukes.

3. A Letter to CBS today...
Dear 60 Minutes II and Dan Rather:

Thank you for an excellent show last night. It was good to have a few more questions answered last night regarding President Bush's whereabouts during the Vietnam War. I am sure that once again the Republicans and the right wing media machine will spend today discrediting not only Mr. Barnes, but Dan Rather and CBS as well. Where there is smoke, there is fire. America is choking in a Bushfire right now.

I for one am a liberal Democrat and greatly appreciate non-partisan news. I despise CNN, FOX and to a lesser degree MSNBC. CBS is truly the Tiffany Network and I hope that you will continue to be the lone bright spot in an otherwise dismal news enviroment.

News. That is all that I want. I do not need smiling happy faces telling me what they think as they read scripted memos from the White House. Corporate media is frightening.

Thank you for letting me vent, if just a little bit. There are millions of Americans just like me that want an unbiased news source. CBS can be that source. There is such a huge void in the media that needs to be filled. I believe that CBS is filling that void.

Many thanks for your hard work.

Sincerely,

4. We should thank CBS and Rather
All Summer they have had anti-Bush books, interviews etc and have not once given in to the RW demand to put on the Swiftie Liars. We have to credit them for that.
