PHOTOS of WH Cabinet room - with CRUCIFIXES......OMG !!!
while OUR soldiers are KILLED by bush* policies...laura dallies around the White House and re-decorates the cabinet room (with OUR money) to now include crucifixes (Christian crosses) on BOTH sides of the elegantly altar-like set-up....

7. Pardon me but
crucifixes are for Catholics and crosses are for the Christian bunch that insist that it's more important that Jesus rose from the dead than that he died. I am not interested in getting into that argument but I don't think Laura would put up crucifixes.

14. good call
Catholics use crucifixes: Jesus is still on the cross.

Protestants have generally used empty crosses.

I'm not gonna rehash the theology behind it, but it would be odd for the nominally Protestant Bushies to use crucifixes.

8. It's as dull looking as Laura
Edited on Thu Sep-09-04 10:58 AM by Marianne
She has little, if any, imagination. Do you think she took the old drapes and made dresses or suits out them? Sure--Texas is the lone star state--just as in her choices in clothing, as well as her two daughters, it is the wearing of badges or individual attention to things such as buttons--lots of buttons, big buttons, barbi doll tight gowns embellished with belly bows and lots of rick rack rather than something that is complimentary to the woman.

I CANNOT believe they put crosses in the cabinet room.

It looks like, from this distance, that they have Jesus on them.

But, I guess if you WORSHIP war and death like this administration, the WAR CABINET room is their church.

We have to get these sick, crusading f*cks out of office.

13. This reminds me of a trip to the Truman Museum a number of years ago...
The museum (Independence, Missouri) had a display entitled "Dinnerware of the Presidents" or something similar... On display were the dishes, silverware, crystal, etc, that (selected) Presidents had used during their administrations.

I remember being impressed with what the Kennedys had: simple, austere yet elegant; pieces that projected a sense of class;

The Reagans however contrasted this with seemed like every piece emblazoned with "United States of America"--plates, glasses, everything with "United States of America" printed, etched, or engraved. Very gaudy. I wondered at the time the Reagans must have had a lot of crooked types to dinner...

24. They are NOT crosses
I got curious and checked it out.

The Whitehouse website has online video and panoramic tours of a bunch of the Whitehouse rooms, including the Cabinet room which can be seen here: http://www.whitehouse.gov/history/life/cabinetroom.html#. If you click on the video tour and skip to about the halfway mark, you will see this stuff clarly.

The "altar" you are seeing is actually the mantle to the fireplace. The "crosses" aren't hanging on the walls...they are actually a pair of white urns with dark trim sitting on the mantle. In the grainy distance of the photo, the white portion is vanishing and only the tarket detail work is showing, giving it a crosslike appearance in the photos. Up close, they look nothing like crosses.

37. Carpet Stars: Let's play RAPTURE!
Nice touch- after the prayer circle,
they all stand on the table, look down at
the carpet and pretend they are
being raptured- the stars of course represent
being swept through the sky with Jeebus,
and the red background is the earth where
the rest of us are being consumed by the fires of hell...
Great touch Laura!

54. The distinction being...
that we "normally" do not have Christ ON the cross (crucifix) because He is no longer there.. glory! BUT...the distinction is sorta petty... the cross (with or without a figure of the Christ) is the cross to Christendom. Now, that is all I will say. on that subject (carry on if ya like).

Putting the crosses (or crucifixes) in that room seems fine to me...

Looks like there might be a fireplace at the end of the room, and these look to be urns or some other similarly shaped object d'art sitting on the mantlepiece.

As much as we all want to find something to nail them on (no pun intended, since we're talking crucifixes here) I really am pretty confident they are not crucifixes. Besides, I don't think those born again types go for the Catholic religious accoutrements.

63. This is good...for those who understand...

Bush is my shepherd,

I shall be in want.

He maketh me lie down on park benches.

He leadeth me beside the still factories,

He restores my doubts about the Republican Party.

He leadeth me into the paths of unemployment for his cronies' sake.

Yea, though no weapons of mass destruction have been found, he maketh me continue to fear evil..

His tax cuts for the rich and his deficit spending discomfit me.

He anointeth me with never-ending debt.

Verily my days of savings and assets are kaput.

Surely poverty and hard living shall follow me all the days of his administration,

And my jobless child shall dwell in my basement forever.
