For G_j and others contemplating leaving US
This is the most comprehensive site on the web
that I have found, as far as resources and information-
I have shared it at DU about a year ago and want to share it
again for the newcomers-
http://www.escapeartist.com/

There are all sorts of job and real estate listings for
any place in the world you might be thinking of living.

Enjoy!

4. This site looks excellent....Thanks...
Some of us do feel maybe our ancestors would applaud us emigrating and going back where we came from rather than suffer under Fascism.

5. People who expatriate
are following the footsteps of their ancestors-
they came to this country to escape tyranny and
oppression- we who are leaving are doing the same,
because unfortunately, the majority of the descendents
of those patriots took their ancestors fight for freedom
for granted- they traded that freedom for their right to
be "comfortable." An examination of the voting turnout
numbers over the last 25 years reveals that they did
not value the sacrifices made by the founding families
of America- the result of such irresponsibility?
They lost the country to the corporations who being
multi national, could care a less about this country.
In fact, the only way for the multi nationals to increase
their profits is to even the global playing field by
reducing the people of this country to the standard
of living the rest of the world has endured for a long
time.

12. you got that right
and now that huge multi-national corporations have the same rights as individual people the game is rigged to the point where it is impossible for individuals to compete unless they join together and become at least as powerful as a corporation.
Thankfully smart people have realized this and formed networks such as MoveOn etc.

One thing that sort of got lost in the other thread is that I think the chances are very good that America will say NO to Bush.
However, we still must be prepared for another coup of some kind.
To not seriously consider this possibility would be foolish.

& Those are wonderful links BHN, much thanks!

6. finally the internet is useful
sadly, the only place that needs architects is the USA. because we're build-happy even when we have no need for it.

8. Ever thought of teaching?
Edited on Thu Sep-09-04 11:58 AM by BeHereNow
I am sure there are lots of schools who would welcome
a professional architecture instructor....
time to think outside of the box!
Maybe you can't find a job as an architect, but
don't limit yourself, consider how you can apply your
knowledge in another field.
The human mind is a limitless source of ideas,
as an architect, you know that. You, like a painter
create a reality where there was none- from your mind.
Apply the same principle to designing your life.

Not that I worry so much about myself, but that Giggling Murderous Disaster Monkey and his gang will not get my sons. It'll have to be over my dead body:grr:
We'd prefer that it doesn't have to come down to that ;-)
