UPDATED: 1:27 pm EDT September 9, 2004

PROVIDENCE -- Former presidential candidate Howard Dean is in Rhode Island Thursday.

The Vermont governor, a Democrat, will talk about the Republican National Convention and the long-term implications of this election. He's to talk about what it means to elect John Kerry versus George W-Bush.

His speech is at Brown University.

Laura Gross is spokeswoman for Democracy for America -- the political action committee that Dean founded in March.

She said Dean also will touch upon what Democrats need to do to "take our country back." He'll also discuss America's relationship with Europe and how our ties with other countries should be stronger.

The event is at 4 p.m. It's open to the public.

The talk is part of Brown's 2004 Noah Krieger Memorial Lecture Series.

2. I wish Al Franken would have Dean on his show
more often. Today Franken had 2 people he tried to browbeat into supporting Kerry, and Dean would have done it hands down with logic and explaining the stakes.

I am mentally trying to compose a letter to Al Franken about the way he speaks to people about Kerry..
