I rarely click on links to pics or cartoons... articles yes, but not pics.

And YOU are the one that has spoiled everyone :) Keep it up... love the toons!

4. But some links have more than just pics

Some sites have music accompanying the picture, or articles/stories. Some are videos.

The cartoons I posted (from Internet Weekly) all have stories and other information.

Oh well, you're only one click away.

5. well, it's YOUR job to entice us to click further...

like the dozens of threads with:

you gotta see this! as the subject line and NOTHING but a link in the message. not even a topic. I usually pass them by. sure, I might be missing something good but... "read this" is just not enough with the volume of posts (and other sites, blogs to check out on a daily basis)

I looked at all the links in your post, and, frankly, they're pretty weak and I would not use them in my TOON collections. but, that's me and my sensibilities about political cartoons... which I have more than a passing familiarity with...
