1. The font you show there is fixed width
and whatever was used in the memo, it was definitely proportional.

2. The memos are unimportant. Bu$h went AWOL, and is a DESERTER,
regardless of these memos.

Bu$h's actual National Guard records are what prove he is a DESERTER, not these memos.

8. Not to mention the
capitals (see G's and O's especially) and the small w's, a's and g's.

4. Please find THIS:
Don't worry about anything having to do with formatting -- proportional spacing, alignments, centering, etc.. That's a red herring since business machines were well capable of all of that.

Try to find this type face in an actual TYPED sample:

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/09/06/politics/main641481.shtml

All that matters is basic letter shapes. (Proportion and weight and shapes of strokes cannot be determined from degraded xeroxes. Only the most basic letter forms can.)

We want an IBM type ball face that looks like the memos The face must have a closed top 4 with no foot serif and a 3 with a rounded top (not a flat top)

5. Nice Try--
unfortunately we see no superscript th, no curly double quotes, and it is not a proportional font.

Sorry, folks, this was a hoax. The real question that is bothering me is who and why? It seems this was almost too easy to discover.

6. I can assume by your certainty that you have the originals in hand...
and have the expertise to determine their authenticity? From what I understand CBS is the only one with the originals. Without the originals all of this is simply a diversion from the content of the documents which, by the way, only back up what is already known from documents already released by the Pentagon.

9. Sorry
<"From what I understand CBS is the only one with the originals">

CBS does not have the originals. CBS has photocopies. That is why there is no evidence of the impression typewriters make when striking paper (which would prove they are real).

11. Did CBS make photocopies of the originals?
If CBS did not have access to the originals, who does? I have to go with CBS on this as they spent 6 weeks assuring themselves of the authenticity of the documents and ABC's experts spent, what, 2 hours, maybe. Speculation is all this is, simple speculation.

12. I don't need the originals / niether did CBS--
Any CASUAL observation of the CBS docs versus the mock-up made in MS-Word using all standard formatting, typeface, line breaks and spacing reveals that the CBS documents were almost certainly made on a modern word processor. They match word for word, kerning, leading spacing to the pica. You say it's all a coincidence?

I didn't check my brain at the door when I joined the party.

I just find it incredibly curious that

a) CBS bought this hoax

b) People here still defend it

c) People here aren't looking for another theory to explain them.

13. LOL!
Any casual observance? CBS spent 6 weeks determining these documents were authentic using experts yet laypersons with no experience can say with totally certainty, at a casual glance, they are false? Hmmmm, think I will stick with CBS on this one.

7. Run From These Memos
These things are fakes ---- we should stick with Bush's obvious undisputable deficiencies. Relying on this junk makes us look desperate. The forgeries are so bad, I would not be surprised if Rove created them only so they could be later "exposed" as fakes.

Bush avoided service by joining the TANG --- undisputed.

Bush missed a flight physical --- undisputed.

As a result of missing the physical he was grounded -- undisputed.

Bush seperated from service before completing his 6 year service requirememt --- undisputed.

WE DON'T NEED THESE FAKE MEMOS. IF WE RELY ON THEM, WE ARE FALLING INTO A TRAP.
