Why oh why didn't I take the BLUE pill?
I didn't start following politics as closely as I have since Democratic Underground came into existance. I really love the site. But I'm afraid the anger and stress I'm feeling is going to cause me to have a heart attack before November. I see all the crap Bush does and gets away with, and how the media just seems to be stooges for the Republican party, and it's hard to not go insane.

Sometimes I feel like Cypher - It seems like it would be easier to go back to my ignorant existance.

2. One way to deal with it...
...is to make yourself part of the process. My wife and I just helped create 2,000 Kerry/Edwards yard signs last weekend. Now, when we drive through our neighborhoods and see the signs in front of people's homes, it reminds us that we can make a difference.

So do like Neo, learn some political Kung Fu, and come out swinging.

3. it always seems that way
but think about how much the COOL people like us, would dislike the ignorant fool you once were.

I always had an opinionated streak and read Ms. and Mother Jones and things like that before I had any idea what it all meant.

Please don't crack before Nov. 2. I'm sure you won't. But seriously, it would not surprise me that IF things don't go our way there aren't some major mental and physical breakdowns and other reactions.

4. Agreed.
"...it would not surprise me that IF things don't go our way there aren't some major mental and physical breakdowns and other reactions."

Indeed, the only option left to us that point is revolt, and such a conclusion can't help but cause us anger and depression. 230 years of freedom and republican democracy destroyed in four years? Well, it's not an easy pill to swallow.

I mean, let's face it: The central reason Nov. 2 is important is because it will conclusively demonstrate whether our democracy still exists, or whether four years of Bush have been enough to destroy it. This is the key lesson to be learned on Nov. 2. Think of it as a scientific experiment, testing the system. And the results of the experiment will determine what the facts of our situation are and how we must act in regards to it.
