oh those wingnuts are GOOD!!!
Man, in one, ONE, news cycle they have completely muddied the waters on the Kirlian (sp?) memos. This is absolutely unbelievable to me. If they are forgeries, we are fucked, no doubt. But from what I'm reading these are definitely not forgeries, but wingnuts across the media spectrum have obfuscated this issue so much and planted the word FORGERY into peoples heads, I think the issue of GWB's complete lack of character and lack of respect for the military is now MOOT.

Goddamn is this country fucked.

1. It just is a vivid demonstration of the hold the right has on the media
Where obviously real evidence is cast into doubt, and scurrilous accusations are given as much air time as they want . . . PROVIDED the accusations are going in the "right" direction.

We are fucked.

Edited on Fri Sep-10-04 01:06 PM by Karenina
Documents released by the WH are suddenly being questioned as "forgeries" although they simply confirm the official record, anecdotal evidence and "common knowledge?"

 :freak: :wow: :freak:

Hey kids! Got any idea how BEKLOPPT ya'll be looking right about now?

2. too late
Fake or not...

media whores are trumpeting fake and forgery as top stories everywhere. It's out. It's being sucked up by the weak minded.

That being said, I have serious reservations regarding the legitmacy of these documents.

My guess is that you believed that Iraq had WMD and that Saddam was about to launch them too.

8. So you must be weak minded
Why do you readily accept right wing crap over 60 minutes??? That's the problem with America, the left always fears they may be wrong when they usually aren't, the right has some sort of perceived integrity that is totally undeserved. It shows when this garbage comes out, there's always more on the left willing to believe the right than vice-versa. So since you're in that category, let me ask you, why?

3. That's what they do. They repeat a word over and over until it sticks.
It worked with "flip-flopper", it worked with convincing people of a Saddam/Osama connection, and it's convincing people that the documents that could be the nail in Bush's coffin are forgeries.

They couldn't care less about the truth, just as long as people beliebe the lie.

10. Yes! No reason to own media entities if you
can't use them during election. As more people start to see the media for the propaganda that it is, it will have less effectiveness.

5. I don't think it's so much that they are 'good'
BushCo has the whole media in it's pocket (other than a couple of outlets). It gets real EASY to put a story out there when several TV networks are willing to defend your honor without question.

The Bushes are neither smart nor particularly creative (not to mention they really can't lie very well). What they do have is LOTS OF MONEY and are currently holding the keys to the kingdom, given their position in the WhiteHouse. Given that they are known to both provide largess to their allies and ruthlessly attack their enemies, it's not surprising that their peers in the mainstream media do what they say.

9. They are as good at what they do as the Nazis were at what they did
From a propaganda perspective they are identical, if not in specific beliefs.

And yes, I completely agree with your assessment.

Without a Free Press it is SO EASY for them to do as they please.

This, without the IMMEDIATE DANGER (which will likely be following in a few years), is unquestionably the feeling people in ALL Totalitarian Nations feel when witnessing the raw power of State Pravda, be it direct or self-imposed, as in Imperial Amerika.

12. God, they are good. How else can you explain
people who believe that the war in Iraq is "going well" when, if you read the newspapers, you can read "in Fallujah, real power is in the hands of the "Mujahedeen Shura Council,"...undisputed ruler of the city since May". And, "U.S. jets pounded insurgent positions in Fallujah for a second straight day Wednesday, but there were no signs of weakening among the Sunni militants who have steadily expanded their control of this city about 30 miles west of Baghdad". And, "The Fallujah Brigade, which the Americans organized in May to maintain security after the Marines lifted a three-week siege, had all but disappeared, along with virtually all signs of Iraqi state authority". But an over whelming majority, according to polls, feel that Bush will do a better job of handling the situation in Iraq. ???

13. Most Americans do not read newspapers, nor
do they comb the web for news. They pay no attention to current events. Ever watch Leno's jaywalking segment? He'll ask people who the vice-president is, and they'll stand there looking like moronic
dumbasses. They couldn't find Iraq on a map if their lives depended on it. What little "news" most people get is their local tv news -- car chases, domestic violence, crime, weather, and a whole lot of sports. If they happen to catch something political, it's likely to be favorable to the chimp.

The US has come to accept mediocrity as a standard. We tolerate mediocre schools, products and services, health care, food, amusements, and - sadly - politicians. I used to know a staunch repuke who twenty years ago was fond of saying "This country's going to hell in a handbasket." I think we're already there.
