real time freeperville.. just spent the two most disturbing hours..
of my life with a group of about a hundred freepers and I blew it. I just totally lost it. I screamed at them.. Asked them how they could spout the virtues of Jesus Christ all the while celebrating the death of thousands of innocents.. I called them fake christians and I told them that the better educate themselves before it's too late. I am so upset about this, I wish I had been able to remain calm and had been able to articulate what so badly needs to be said... I can't stop crying for them.. they are so lost.

9. I thought I was going to learn about a business opportunity
at this company.

The speaker started talking about Sep 11 and talking about how wonderful it is that our soldiers have volunteered to die fighting terrorists. I almost could not stay in my seat. I finally got outside the building and boy did I let it rip.

16. QUIXTAR???!!!!!
That's an offshoot of Amway, and some asshole tried to "get me in on the ground floor" years ago. I'm surprised they're still around.

Any MLM scheme depends on being halfway to a cult, and you got into the wingnut end of things. I was thrown out of another one of those scams a few years ago when I asked why, if they give out a total of 40% commissions, I couldn't just get the whole 40% for making a sale, instead of having to deal with a "downstream."

They hate that kind of question.

Don't despair, though, it's a selling job, and if you're any good at selling you can find real things to sell.

39. actually, it isn't.
It would be like calling any Democrat a DUer.

Freeperville is a specific place, it's the website and message board.

call them what you want, but unless you were at freerepublic, you weren't at "freeperville".

28. My sympathies.
I lost a "friend" to Quixtar. He totally alienated our entire group of friends by joining that. He's also a massive right-winger who thinks the Freemasons are trying to cause the end of the world by bringing the anti-Christ. That, and the Freemasons are traitors to America. (Totally ignoring the fact that they wrote the Constitution.)

I never speak to this person anymore.

3. I understand
I really do. I know we'd all like to remain calm, but the situation now is so desperate and so bizarre that it really is a challenge. I know I've been having a difficult time and I'm usually very level-headed.

So, cheer up. You're only human. At least it was your basic humanity that made you get upset. You weren't reacting out of hate, but out of compassion -- true compassion -- for others.

17. You aren't alone in using "IF you're right I'd rather burn in Hell." line
And I mean it. And it usually shuts them up real damn fast because they can't even wrap their brains around the concept.

They'll likely leave you alone now.

And yes.

If the Falwell FReeper types are right I'd much rather burn than suffer an eternity with them. I can't imagine anything worse.

Just have a nice hot bath, some cool drink and rest. Just remember that the hopelessness and helplessness you experience is cathartic. You were trying to educate them but they would not hear it. It is them that fail not you to seek truth, reason and logic.

19. Having 'blown up' at a few people
and feeling regret over my loss of control (not what I said, but how I said it), I told my fiance I hated it. Out of the blue, someone would say something supporting bush and I finally started noticing that I could feel a knot in my stomach, tensed shoulders, and the rush of adrenaline. So I started listening to rush, but concentrating entirely on remaining relaxed physically (affirmations or prayers or just a reminder that "Peace is my only goal" helped me) I practiced posting on a local newspaper forum, but I wouldn't let myself write until I went through a full body relaxation and that whole peace routine.
I still feel that surge at times, but those times are fewer...and I have remained calm & responded factually while being yelled at, and THAT feels wonderful!
Your recognition of how you feel when you blew it is enough to start you on the road to feeling good when you say those very same things, but with your bod (& heart/spirit) relaxed.

21. I didn't even get to their "program" or "plan"
what ever it was the were calling it. I apologised to the person that accompanied me there and left after my outburst. I just wish I hadn't screamed at them. I must have looked like a crazy person to them.

I didn't expect politics to be brought up. I was just so disturbed by the speakers comments and outraged at the lies he has been programmed to beleive. The words "cult" and "hypnosis" crossed my mind more than once during that 2 hour meeting. The more I think about it.. the more I think this is exactly what has happened to these people.. they've been hypnotised..

22. At least you weren't related to them...
Last spring, right after the "liberation" I had a fight with my mom, who is a sweet woman, but has been brain-washed by her dumbass right-wing boyfriend.

"Isn't it wonderful how we freed all the people of Iraq?"

"No one asked us to "free" them, Mom. We invaded their country."

"Didn't you see them celebrating in the streets?"

"They weren't celebrating, Mom. They were begging for their lives!"

It went on like this until she was in tears, yelling about how Iraq bombed the Twin Towers and they deserved to die.

The worst part was this all took place at my 2-year old niece's birthday party! Oops!

ROFLMAO! Sorry. I know exactly how it feels to lose it and God, what a speech I can make on the way home - in my car. BUT, if you ever have the opportunity again, take a breath, and tell them a story. Like this one:

Once there was a man who was very cruel to his family. He beat his wife, raped his children and kept all the food in the house for himself. To remedy this another man declared himself their savior and burned their house down - wife, kids and all. The cruel father is in prison now and the "savior man," he has the father's gun.

The end.

34. Pass it on!
On Sept. 11, if you see EVEN ONE Bush campaign ad using 9-11 imagery, call the White House. Pass it on. It's bad enough when he politicizes the deaths of 3,000 Americans on other days. But if he does it on Sept. 11, it'll be an outrage.
Please e-mail EVERYONE YOU KNOW and ask them to do the same!

I had it out with a good 200 of them about a month ago over the Kerry Communion/Abortion issue, and I know what you mean. All I can say is they're not getting any of Jesus' message from The Sermon On The Mount. Guess you can lead horses to water, but can't make them drink. They are all so set in their ways, it's pathetic. They are lost causes. Narrow, closed minds who would all hold hands and jump a bridge if Bush told them to do it. They called me everything from a bad Catholic to a heretic to you name it. I blew and finally spoke my mind, basically telling them that I'm glad I'm not one of them since I got to experience first hand what they are like. Don't feel bad about anything. You tried, and they're among the "left behind". :) P.S. Here's your halo. I think you've scored your wings! O8)
