Is the Firehouse Subs a right-wing establishment?
We went to one and we liked their subs, but last night they had FoxNews on and just to test them, I asked them if they'd change the channel to CNN or the weather channel. One of the guys laughingly said that he wouldn't put it on CNN, but he would change it to the weather channel. I equally laughingly said, "I guess we won't be coming back."

It was all polite and nice.

1. Don't know about the whole chain.
Since he's probably just a franchisee. I doubt they screen for political affiliation before doling out franchise licenses.

3. And God Knows Baptists should be allowed to run a business
What's the difference between saying "Hey that guys an Atheist, we won't go there." and "Hey that guys a Baptist, we won't go there."

I'm sure there is a difference, but i'm waiting for the tolerant folks her to enlighten me.

Oh, and in case anybody is wondering I am a Democrat, I support Senator Kerry and I support Democratic Underground, having given in all the drives I can remember. So please hold the accusations that i am a Freeper Spy.

4. I hear that in America you can be a patron of any institution you
desire. I learned that from the Republicans. If I knew of Dem small business owners, I would rather give them my money than I would give it to a Repub front. This is an individual choice. And as an individual choice it only seeps into my subconscious when I walk into an establishment that is shoving their political views at me.

5. I agree with you.
Repubs can make the same choice.

7. Oh, they do. They do.
In fact, they've been doing it for so long that they've pushed the practice into the public sector which I believe crosses the line.

6. You are right, Truett Cathy is a religious man, but he goes out of his way
to try to be fair. They close on Sunday, but their workers get paid well above the other fast food places. They seem to treat their employess very good when compared to other Fast Food places.

8. And, frankly, I don't see them shoving their religious beliefs
down anyone's throat. But then, I only patronize them through drive-thru.

9. Chick Fil A
is NOT a right-wing establishment at all. It was founded by a devout (not rabid, right-wing) Christian man named Truett Cathay who believed all families should have a day of rest and renewal together - Sunday in his case. So all Chick-Fil-A's are closed on Sundays. They also pay their employees a higher wage and treat them with far more respect than any other restaurant chain around. Terrible, huh?

My husband is neither a Christian nor a natural-born U.S. citizen. He has worked for CFA for nearly ten years in several different places, and we have never had a negative experience with anyone at the local level or at CFA HQ.

10. When i lived in Texas they had chick-fil-a's all over the place
they were closed on sundays which imho isnt such a bad idea. Now that everyting is open all the time it's kind of taken something away from sundays and holidays. The guy that owns chick is a baptist i think.

11. Don't know his denomination
I did some quick searching, but couldn't find a reference to Cathy's denomination, just a lot of bio material that talks about his faith growing up, a Sunday School teacher that had a big impact on his life, and his approach to life today.
