This is complete speculation, but I've discovered that WSM-FM (95.5) in Nashville is about to change formats. The promos have been promising "something that Nashville has never heard before", and have apparently included comments about "too many sheep".
WSM-FM has had a hard time finding a winning format. They're owned by Cumulus Broadcasting, which also owns the highly-successful right-wing talker WWTN-FM (99.7).
Tennessee is borderline-battleground. Nashville also has a successful all-talk NPR affiliate on the AM band (1430). WSM-FM has excellent coverage. Since Clear Channel has been picking up AAR in lots of areas, it would make good business sense for Cumulus to grab AAR for itself in Nashville. It would then virtually *own* talk radio in Nashville (with their only competitor being right-wing talker WLAC (1510), owned by Clear Channel). WSM-FM also has a VERY strong signal that penetrates buildings in downtown Nashville, which means people could listen to it at work.
Again, this is 100% speculation. But has anyone heard anything to confirm or deny this possiblity?
EDIT: Here's the current status of their website:
