Those yellow ribbon stickers that say "support our troops"
or "I support our troops". What are they trying to say? Is it a 'make yourself feel good" sticker? Is it code for "I support our president"?

8. There are a lot of democrats with those ribbons.
And a LOT of them have a loved one in Iraq or Afghanistan. Why rag on people for a non-partisan statement?

12. Hmm...

It's code for ... "I like war as long as it isn't my kid."

Hmm... would that saying hold true for my mom who hates bush and hates war when she put a yellow ribbon around her oak tree in the front yard when I was deployed to Iraq?

3. I got one
I have it with my Kerry/Edward, Veterans for Kerry and John Kerry - These Colors Don't Run bumper stickers. I did it deliberately to try to say that the best way to support the troops is to elect John Kerry.

Good idea! And I'm glad pinkpops asked this
question, because I thought they were just repugs making a statement. Glad to be enlightened. :)

Where does one get them cause I would like to have one next to my Kerry/Edwards sticker if they ever come in the mail?

Never mind :)

6. I often wonder the same thing
How does the $ 1.89 purchase of a sticker that is probably made in China help our troops ? Also, how does tying a yellow ribbon around a tree help them ?

9. I have one
to go with my Kerry sticker, my "Republicans for Voldemort" sticker, the one that says "If You Aren't Completely Appalled, Then You Haven't Been Paying Attention," the MoveOn sticker that says "Defend America-Defeat Bush," and the flag sticker on the back window. I believe that for a lot of people, the yellow ribbon sticker is a knee-jerk support-our-glorious-president thing, but IMO the only way to support the troops is to keep them out of unnecessary wars, provide adequate equipment, decent pay and benefits, and acknowledge their sacrifices instead of ignoring them. So I have one of those ribbons. I hope its juxtaposition with all those expressions of liberalism makes a bunch of little freeper heads explode.

One of my friends took it off a Cadillac, and put it on my junker. I didn't notice it until the next day.

13. In my neck of the woods....
...these things are everywhere, along with the red, white, and blue "God Bless America" ribbons. My guess is the subliminal message is, "You're either for us or against us -- vote Bush." But again, this is my impression from where I live.

14. That's why I think it's a good idea to have them
If you've got pro-Dem or anti-Bush stickers I think it's a good idea to have at least the yellow ribbon. Even the red, white and blue if you want it. Don't let them own these issues ever again.

16. True -- I may get one now.
You make a good point. I do support the troops, and I also support Kerry. The two are not mutually exclusive, and people need to see that. But I draw the line at inferring that God is "on our side," which I how I kind of see the red, white, and blue ribbon. To that end, I did see a bumper sticker the other day that left me puzzled. I swear, it said: "America Blesses God." I could not see (without creating a traffic hazard) if there was any fine print associated with it. Struck me as very odd, if not almost nonsensical.

22. Display with Kerry/Edwards removes ambiguity or
implied Bush support. I did a Google search, found this from freerepublic

"Support our troops" magnetic "ribbon" stickers used as substitute for Bush/Cheney stickers

Many people have expressed their opinion that they do not want to put a Bush/Cheney Bumper sticker on their car for fear that degenerate unlawful liberal scum will damage their car.

In many respects this fear is understandable. Liberals are by nature scofflaws and have little respect for life or property.

I have seen thousands of these yellow (and Red, White, & Blue) ribbon magnetic "stickers" that proclaim support for our troops.

I have ask everyone I have seen with one of these if they are supporting Bush. 100% said yes.

My conclusion, hundreds of thousands of people are showing their support for our troops and our President by placing these ribbons on their cars kinda as a duel purpose sticker. Afterall, Kerry doesn't support our troops so Kerry supporters must not either.

26. That's also how it is down here in Kentucky.
Almost every car (especially the SUVs) down here has at least one of the stickers. My area (Northern Kentucky) is very conservative. I feel like asking the people "is that what you do to 'support the troops'- you have a bumper sticker?"

15. I saw a poster once...
"Have a flag on your car, and a bumper sticker that says you support the troops - It's literally the very least you can do"

Smaller print pointed out that a $5 flag and a $2 bumper sticker accomplished nothing, that you should get out and donate blood, volunteer for the USO, etc etc. Not merely have a bumper sticker. Show actual support, not a sign.

but the Bushies would like to have text saying "Bush-Cheney '04" right underneath "Support our Troops"

19. Just write in: "Bring them home."
Carry a black felt tip pen with you at all time. Do not deface property but you can sure as hell write on a sticker.

not the only one, perhaps. It's commercial so I wont post it. You can google it yourself. It donates some proceeds to this org, which helps soldiers call home.

25. I have a yellow ribbon magnet that says "USMC"
because my son is a Marine currently stationed in Japan. I also have two Kerry stickers (one you can't see when the top is down) and a Patrick Rose sticker. The magnet is on the side because it won't stick to the back of my car (fiberglass bumper and spoiler.)

I also fly my U.S. and Texas flags every day. I think we should take these symbols BACK and not let freepers define us as being anti-American and anti-troops.

It means you have somebody you're waiting for to come home. Nothing sinister in that is there?
