2. Wow... Hersch suggests that Bush let Sadr walk away...
Am watching the Hersch discussion on CSPAN right now, and am amazed that I hadn't heard prior to just now the suggestion he put forth that Bush allowed Muqtada al Sadr to walk away from the Najaf siege -- when we had him cornered - because it was just 3 days prior to the Republican National Convention (and continued violence during the RNC would not have jibed with their false "we're winning the war" theme).

3. It was a pretty revealing talk.

The main thing I came away from it with was that he has it from high up military men that we are in big trouble in Afghanistan AND Iraq.

And that we have dug a hole so deep, in the Middle East, that noone knows how we are going to get out.


Edit- last words in his talk- "You're not going to stop terrorism, with guns."

even though I wish he would at least give Kerry a chance to try new policies before he shoots them down. Maybe he's right, but we need shrub gone.
