Currently in NZ we're arguing over the Civil Unions Bill - essentially a law setting up a civil form of marriage, open to heterosexual and same-sex relationships. All the rights of traditional marriage, like next-of-kin status and all that.

The main headline-grabbing group in opposition is the Destiny Church. The closest NZ comes to having scary televangelist fundies.

All the more so when they marched on Parliament in protest against civil unions, decked out in black t-shirts with clenched fists in the air chanting. No, I'm not kidding.
