The never-ending excuse for a steadily worsening Iraq
Just after Bush declared Mission Accomplished* the insurgency started hitting hard. It was because there were a few thousand disgruntled Baathists we were told, and Bremer vowed repeatedly to mop them up and destroy them.

The insurgents were "dead-enders" and once we caught Saddam and his sons, things might get better. Then we caught the Husseins, and it got worse.

When it just got worse and the Shiites joined in, the Bush war apologists told us it was to be expected because of the coming transition of sovereignty. The insurgents were just trying a last desperate effort to stop the "watershed" moment when sovereignty would be given to Iraqis.

But then the Iraqis got "sovereignty" and what happened? We started losing cities to the insurgents one by one. American and Iraqi casualties continued to climb and the pace of the violence increased yet again. So the Bush apologists are now saying that the violence is increasing because of elections scheduled for January.

At what time do we look at the uninterrupted downward trend in Iraq and see what is in plain sight. The wheels have come off Bush's pie-in-the-sky nation building plan for Iraq. It has been a catastrophe. And we would not even have considered it had we not been given false and misleading information by Bush and Cheney. Do we have to wait until after the election?

1. As Long As The Media Is Under Corporate Control And As Long As
the Democrats cower in fear of the almighty "swing voter", no Bush f*ck up, whether it's on the economy, Iraq, nor war on terrorism, will ever be publicly questioned nor criticized. Bush has free reign because no one wants to stand up the power that's behind him.

2. The insurgents know they
have caused Bush to change his plans again and again, why should they stop?

There should probably be some international group that is negotiating with the only strong political leader in Iraq, Sistani. Then hold elections backed by him, then get the F out as soon as possible.
