ABC News did a story on surge of violence in Iraq today- 60 dead
They showed an Arab TV news reporter in front of a burning Bradley Fighting Vehicle. All of a sudden the camera shakes and blood is seen splattered on the lens. The reporter was killed on camera by a US missile strike. How the HELL can people feel that Bush is better able to keep us safe. We are creating more enemies by the second.

BAGHDAD, Iraq Sept. 12, 2004 — Insurgents hammered central Baghdad on Sunday with one of their most intense mortar and rocket barrages ever in the heart of the capital, heralding a day of violence that killed nearly 60 people nationwide as security appeared to spiral out of control.
At least 37 people were killed in Baghdad alone. Many of them died when a U.S. helicopter fired on a disabled U.S. Bradley fighting vehicle as Iraqis swarmed around it, cheering, throwing stones and waving the black and yellow sunburst banner of Iraq's most-feared terror organization.

The dead from the helicopter strike included Arab television reporter Mazen al-Tumeizi, who screamed, "I'm dying, I'm dying," as a cameraman recorded the chaotic scene. An Iraqi cameraman working for the Reuters news agency and an Iraqi freelance photographer for Getty Images were wounded.

Maimed and lifeless bodies of young men and boys lay in the street as the stricken U.S. vehicle was engulfed in flames and thick black smoke.

1. It's a horrible policy to kill everyone near a tank on the theory
that they might steal equipment inside otherwise.

2. They didn't kill the people, they destroyed the tank
</sarcasm>

Anyways ABC also did a good article on the Assault Weapons Ban, and how there is no proof that it lowered crime.

3. Yes, spare parts are more valuable than a human life
And it is shown live on TV for the Arab world to see. I wonder how many more suicide bombers were recruited today?

4. You wouldn't think that it would be a good thing for the world to see how
we spread freedom to Middle Eastern countries, would you? This won't play well anywhere. Once upon a time in a different America, it wouldn't play well here either. But that time is gone, and it's now the New American Century.

How smug do you think these morans will be in a few years when they see their kids are nothing more than slave labor and cannon fodder?

10. finally, some video they can't censor
Bet they wish they could.

If the American people could see the reality of what was going on over there, we'd all be clamoring to just get the hell out of there.

There's no "winning" there

11. Bush is just letting the insurgents have their way.
He won't do anything to confront them if it means increasing U.S. casualties prior to the election. It's a shame to have to think that about a president, but what else is there to think? We've just backed off and let them have one city after another.

Bush must think he can appease the rebels long enough to get elected. Then, if elected, Cheney and his minion will start calling for confrontations. The trouble is that the confrontations will be much deadlier to U.S. forces than they needed to be, because the situation will have been allowed to get out of hand. And why? To give Bush a few percentage points in the polls.

Talk about doing anything to get elected. Our country is being driven by crazy people. They are using America, its soldiers, and its tax dollars for political purposes.
