Congress Links 9/11 and Iraq War
http://www.antiwar.com/blog/index.php?id=P1296

On Thursday, Congress passed a resolution that was amended to specifically link the War in Iraq to 9/11.

The sponsor of the resolution, Henry Hyde (R-Ill.) responded to critics, saying "there is a direct connection between the war in Iraq and the bombing of Sept. 11."............

Next up on the Congressional agenda is to pass a resolution declaring that the moon is made of cheese and the world is flat.

It must be true if they passed a resolution declaring such things.

7. The sad thing is that most of the Democrats voted for it.
Except for an intrepid few who have the courage to take a stand.

9. Seems a whole lot of Democrats...
... would prefer to participate in a GOP-sponsored revisionist history program than be nailed by the GOP as "not supporting the troops" in an election season.

Anyone doubting the militaristic nature of this society needs some cult de-programming, I'm afraid.

10. All that resolution is
is more fodder for a chimp campaign ad. "Looky here! Even the Democrats in Congress agree that Saddam and 911 were connected." I can't believe WE pay these people. They don't represent us.

11. I have a Wonderful Idea:
Since Henry Hyde can obviously turn lead into gold, lies into truth and otherwise do magic with Congressional Resolutions, I propose that we send him this one:

"RESOLVED: That Hurricane Ivan is not really a hurricane at all but a mere rain shower with gentle breezes which will dissipate into a sunny day on Wednesday of this week."

12. A patriot's response
We, the people, of these United States of America do hereby censure our representatives to the people's House of Representatives, 108th Congress of the United States, which is hereby relegated to the votes and signatories for H. Res. 757. We hereby do so for the wording in the resolution, which was meant to deceive the people, concerning a linkage between the 9/11 terrorist events of September 11, 1991 with the government of Iraq now deposed. We hereby deem any action by a representative of the people that engages in any attempt to deceive the people in breech of their fiduciary duty to the people of the United States and the elected office they hold. Any irrefutable proof otherwise to the people's assertions must be presented to the people.

19. An Outrage! How could this have happened?
Edited on Sun Sep-12-04 09:55 PM by Cogito ergo doleo
"Rep. Maurice Hinchey, D-N.Y., one of 15 Democrats and one Republican to cast "no" votes, said linking the Sept. 11, 2001, act of terrorism to the war in Iraq was "blatantly untrue" and had turned a resolution honoring the sacrifices of Sept. 11 victims into a political document."

"Why are we putting together a resolution that convolutes the issue?" asked Rep. Barbara Lee, D-Calif., another no vote. The vote was 406-16."

Why, indeed? This is stunning. I think I'm having a melt down.

"U.S. troops in Baghdad, added House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, R-Texas, are "fighting the same evil and upholding the same virtues" as the passengers aboard Flight 93 who battled the hijackers or the police and firefighters who lost their lives at the World Trade Center. "It is one and the same conflict," he said."

Delay is disgusting. It is not the same...repeat, not the same.

26. Technically since Bush used 9/11 to go to war,
that means that 9/11 IS related to Iraq but not in the way the Bushies are saying it is.
